I turn on the power button and it just flashes

The flashing and blinks tells the technician what is wrong with the computer. Most times it's the memory or video card. What is the make and model of your computer?

When you plug in the power cord is there any lights whatsoever on the laptop, where the plug goes in or on the AC Adapter of the power cord? When you press the power button do you hear fans running, hard drive spinning, lights on the computer, hear any beeps or lights constantly blinking, hear the DvD/CD drive click and the light on the drawer of the DvD/CD turn on for a second or two? If so the laptop is trying to boot or may have booted, but the screen is not showing for some reason. Beep tones and blinking lights tells the technicians what is going on with the laptop and why it is not booting. Most times it's a motherboard issue when you hear beeps or blinking lights continuous. Most times the problem is with the memory or Video Card. Count the Blinking Lights or Beeps and take note of their pattern (1 Long or 1 Long followed by 2 Short). Maybe your power cord is bad if you don't get anything to happen whatsoever when you press the power button. And if that's true maybe you was operating off the battery the last time you had it on and since the power cord is bad, it was not charging the battery so the battery is drained and the power cord is bad. Maybe you have a Static Charge Buildup. Remove the Power Cord, Remove the Battery, then Press and Hold the power button for 30 seconds. After 30 seconds plug the power cord back in (leave the battery out) and hit the power button to see if it boots. If it does, you can put the battery back in and let it charge.

Maybe your DC Power Jack which is where the power cord plugs into the computer is bad. Take an ink pen and push the tip inside the jack and see if the little pin wiggles, if so the jack is bad. You'll have to take the laptop apart to fix it. Most times it is soldered onto the motherboard, so you will have to desolder the old and solder a new one.

Maybe your memory is bad or the memory slot is bad.

Remove the Power Cord, Remove the battery, Remove the cover that houses the memory on the bottom of the laptop then remove one of the memory chips. Set the chip aside then try rebooting the computer. If it boots, then you know the memory chip you set aside is bad so mark an x on it with an ink pen. If it fails to boot then move the chip to the next memory slot and try rebooting. If it fails take the chip out and set it aside, then put the other chip in and try booting it in both slots. If it boots, just to verify that the chip set aside is bad, mark an x on it and put it into the open memory chip slot and try booting.

Turn power button on and goes off

OverheatingWhen the CPU overheats then it will shut down (i.e. thermaloverload) and won't boot up again until it has cooled down. If this is theproblem is not fixed then the CPU will eventually fail. A faulty fan causes the problem or the fan and heat sink assembly are cloggedwith dust.Check the CPU fan to see if it spins freely, if not replace the fan. If the fan and heat sink is clogged with dust the remove the dust and make surethe vents are clear and dust free. Use a small brush and can of compressed airto do this.

I have a problem turning on my laptop, it will

Start taking your laptop apart piece by piece and test it after each removed component:
1. Remove the hard drive and test the laptop.
2. Remove the DVD drive and test the laptop.
3. Remove the wireless card and test the laptop.
4. Unplug the display panel from the motherboard/video card and test the laptop.
etc....
Continue taking it apart until you have only three major components connected: motherboard (with video card), processor, and memory. If you still experience the same problem, most likely it's bad motherboard.
By the way, before you start, try reconnecting the memory module. If you have two modules installed, try removing them one by one and test the laptop with each one separately

Remove password on my hp n5150

This is the BIOS password. BIOS password is stored in the CMOS/ RTC battery of the notebook. So if you would remove it, reboot the notebook and then again reseat it. BIOS passowrd will get removed.

Check this link and download the manual to get the procedure for RTC battery removal.

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/manualCategory?product=57784&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&lang=en&cc=us

If your laptop is in warranty you can call up HP and they fix it or give you the procedure to remove the password.

Some of the keys don't work on the keyboard

Use canned air or a vacuum cleaner to remove debris under the keys. If that doesn't work, a new keyboard is fairly inexpensive--$20 or so... You can have a tech install it for you at a shop or.... You can try to replace it yourself if you are adventurous and like working with delicate, expensive tiny parts and screws.
PLEASE RATE THIS ADVICE WITH SOME THUMBS UP!!!

Can't figure out how to connect my HP n5151 to the

Hello will467

I have read your questions and comments and am happy to continue assiting.

This model of laptop does not seem to have built-in wireless functionality. However, it does have at least one (usually two) PC Card slots present. This will allow you to connect a Wi-Fi PC Card into the slot, which will also have a built-in antenna.

This laptop suports PC Cards Type I and Type II, but not higher. This is more than sufficient for a wireless adapter.

I highly recommend the Linksys range of wireless adapters for full compatibility and reliability with that router. The model you are interested in is the Linksys WPC54G. This should be fully compatible. The driver software should come with it, but its always recommended to get the latest from their site here. I have also taken into consideration that the laptop is Windows ME, and this adapter is fully compatible with that operating system.

After inserting the adapter and installing the software, it will guide you on connecting to the router, with setup including the router's name (SSID) and any security keys it is using. Your friend should then be able to connect to the router flawlessly.

I hope this has been of some assistance. I would be most grateful if you would vote for this solution if it has helped at all.

Best of luck.

With regards

If the modem connect to a coaxial cable its cable, if connect to a RJ11 aka Telephone cable is DSL. Most of the modems connect the computers via RJ45 aka Cat5 or network cable. For this type of connection you do not need drivers.

If the computer not connect to internet, check for the NIC card driver in COntrol Panel. If the drivers are good, then open the command prompt (go to START | Run.. | Type cmd and press ENTER) and type ping 127.0.0.1, if you not have a success the network card is bad. If successfull...

Type ipconfig, if you have return IP of 169.254.x.x then your computer is not getting an IP. reset the router and check again.

When type ipconfig you have to display one of these IP address . 1) 192.168.x.x 2) 172.16.x.x 3)10.0.x.x. If you cant connect check for third party software installed.
