Compaq presario 2199us notebook does not boot

Hi Krishna. Could be that the processor's cooling fan is no longer functioning and then the processor instantly overheats and everything STOPS !!! Could be the RAM memory chips not in good state anymore .....Could be that (while it tries to determine what hard drive is in there) the hard drive is BAD and cannot be identified... that would also just STOP everything. It really is quite a few things that could cause that

Tried everthing just cant get this thing to boot up

Sounds like you may need your screen replaced.

Upon turning on your laptop,
Keep pressing F8, until you hear a beep. This will give you the option to boot to safe mode. When you hear a beep, and NOTHING comes on your screen within 20 seconds, you need to have your LCD screen replaced.

Typically if its a hardware problem such as RAM, you'll hear 2 beeps or a POST message will display on your screen, letting you know that a certain piece of hardware failed.

Ive seen problems occur when people change a setting such as :
Right click on your desktop --> Properties --> Settings --> Advanced Button

And changing your DPI. This can cause your screen to go out (Not display anything). If its up to high chances are your LCD screen can not handle it. If you boot to safe mode, then you can fix this. Again if you cant boot to safe mode, then you have a mad LCD.

Give this a try and let me know what happens.

Oh one more things.

One thing i have also seen, more than once, and till this day i can not explain it, but a USB device plugged in. Remove ANY USB device plugged to your computer. Printer, FLASH Drive, Mouse, etc. Then turn on your computer.

If you have a floppy drive, remove the floppy.
If you have a CD/DVD in your tray, turn the computer on to take it out.

Wont boot up and no screen

Can you get into the BIOS setup?
Some laptops allow you to select an alternative boot device by pressing F12 as you power up the laptop.
If not you will need to go into the BIOS setup and change the Boot up order and make the CD as the 1st boot device and the hard disk as the 2nd boot device.
You can change it back later if you wish, it is not critical.

I have a compaq pressario 2200 notebook when i try

One of your RAM sticks might be bad.

Hopefully you have two RAM sticks. They are located behind one of the doors under your laptop.

Try removing one of the RAM sticks & fire the PC up with just one RAM stick installed.

If it still doesn't work, try removing the second RAM stick & replace it with the RAM stick you originally removed. Then try firing it up again.

If that works, try re-installing both sticks again. The contacts may have just been dirty & needed the RAM to be re-seated.

Note book freezing after fan change

This is just an easy problem... what you'll have to do is follow this steps

Step 1: If you have manual of your computer it is better.. restart your notebook, press and hold the key to boot in BIOS setup... try pressing this key F1, F2, Delete or F8, because some laptop and notebooks have different method of going to BIOS.. you will know if it is BIOS Configuration because it has a BIOS Settings at the Title of the screen.. now go to Power Management or Power Monitoring.. you can find the Fan option there.. because you change the fan of your notebook, it detects that the Fan that you installed is not standard with the note book.. go to step 2.

Step 2: Now when you find the fan option try to set to ignore the fan RPM and The Voltage that is uses... if there is... then save your settings by pressing F10 key and wait for the notebook to start normally.. if the notebook won't start normally, then go to step 3.

Step 3: In this step you'll have to Start in Safe Mode.Restart your notebook, while booting press the F8 key then a boot menu will show in your screen.. if there is drive selection, choose the hard disk drive.. if none then proceed in selecting the Safe Mode menu.. wait until its done booting your windows in safe mode.. after have complete run in safe mode.. properly restart your notebook by going to Start>Turn Off Computer> Restart, and it will boot in windows normally...

Hope I Can Help
