You should reinstall your OS and try to find your drivers from hp.com site.

First thing to do would be to reinstall the operating system Use the Repair option so you do not lose all your personal stuff.

This is called the BSOD (blue screen of Death) this usually occurs if you have recently installed either a new piece of hardware with a driver that has conflicted with Windows.

1. Unplug all you USB peripherals while the PC is shutdown

2. Press F8 while the PC is booting up its difficult to know when to do it so I usually press it twice with 5 seconds between presses.

3. Select last known good configuration and see if your PC will start this might be all that it needs.

If this fails unless you have a boot CD that allows you to recover the DOS or on some laptops like Evesham they have PC angel installed I am not sure if the Compaq Presario has this but you can use Hirens Boot CD or some other to try and restore the files,

I am sure that the CAB files that are required will still be on the laptop unless someone has removed then to save space.you may have to take it back to factory defaults, you will loose all installs and documents though its a bit drastic but it should get you back up and running.

This is a link to the owner's manual. It shows pictures of the laptop and where the battery is located. Probably easy to find a replacement battery on ebay.com or elsewhere. The battery should have a number on it for reordering or you can find one at www.hp.com

Go to Youtube and look for your type of computer there, and include the words hard drive in the description. There will be several videos showing how to do it, even if your specific model isn't shown. It really is easy to do, once you've seen it done

it is with the lcd screen. try to call your manufacturer. i am sure they have coverage for replacement.

boot it to safe mode, then run a system restore a week before the issue occured. if there is any resource in conflict with what was installed, this will be removed and problem resolved.

if that did not help, open the laptop up and remove the memory and hard drive, then re seat them properly.

First thing to do is to remove the DriveLock password or reset it back the default one.
Remove the BIOS Battery and all other power sources of your laptop (including the main battery) at least 10 minutes.
Then press and hold down the power button for a few seconds to discharge the laptop completely.

Probably your keyboard is set to a different character set or language. To fix this go to control panel and click keyboard properties, there should be a tab for input locals. This sets the language and character set for your keyboard. To use various characters, you can use start , then type charmap.exe in the box and it will bring up a character map where you can select various characters such as the copyright sign etc. to use. Most windows from 2000 newer also have osk.exe, this draws up an onscreen keyboard you can click with your mouse to type.

Does it appear as though the computer is booting into windows? If so, shine a bright light on the screen and see if you can see an image. If you can, it may be the inverter board. If you see no image at all usually it will be one of two things. Either a motherboard, or LCD is bad.

Check the Bootup sequence. Set HDD0 as high priority.

Replace the battery.

But all of this products are only a trial version. If you want to have this unit a full version you need to buy this product.

Take note that their is no piracy of this product.
