Epson CX4400 printer...when I installed non-OEM

I have always avoided Epson printers as they tend not to suit occasional use and the maintenance of the print heads is an expensive professional job. Your problem is surely not your problem at all but in reality is the problem of the person who sold you "compatible" cartridges that weren't compatible at all and in fact weren't fit for the intended purpose. That retailer should put matters right...

Scanner failiure on HP Officejet g55

I had this same problem and finally found the solution. The first thing you have to do is dismantle the top portion of the printer to gain access to the part you need to fix. Here is a link to an HP website with photos showing you how to do this.

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=de&dlc=de&cc=de&docname=c00498704#N216

Once you have it dismantled, look toward the back of the unit, near the belt that moves the light bar back and forth and you will find a small, clear disc (about an inch in diameter) that is attached to the end of the shaft of a small motor. It almost looks like a tiny disc brake and caliper. I didn't have to replace any parts; all I had to do was clean that clear disc with a q-tip that was slightly dampened with plain water. You have to be very careful when cleaning it because the disc is very thin and fragile. Don't remove the disc, just clean it in place. I also used a small can of compressed air to carefully blow off any dust particles after I finished cleaning it. If you look at the disc with a magnifying glass, you will see that its outer edge is filled with very tiny index lines. From a distance, they almost look like a grey circle around the edge of the disc. Apparently, those tiny lines and the miniature caliper count the rotations of the motor as it spins, and this tells the printer where to stop the light bar after it has scanned or copied something. When it gets dirty with dust or cigarette smoke, it can't count properly, so the scanner just makes a grinding noise after a scan because it doesn't know where to stop, and you get the "Scanner Failure" error message. I carefully cleaned that disc, re-assembled the unit, and it works like new again. I hope this helps!

Sincerely,
Tosty

HP G55 initially grinds when told to print, then grinds again when finished printing.

Check the gear assembly especially the fuser unit, replace damaged gear.

Purchased OfficeJet G55 10 Years

You need to have a look here: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/windows-7/en-us/Search.aspx?l=en-us&type=Hardware&s=OfficeJet%20G55

If you are using Windows 7, your machine will not operate.

You can check the manufacturers web site if you are using a different Operating System ... it is an old printer, however.
