I recently replaced the empty color cartridge in my HP PSC 750 printer with a proper cartridge replacement however an error message pops up on the printer screen either telling me to check the cartridge or that there is a scanner failure. It prints fine in black and white and color the message is annoying.
I just turned on my hp psc 750 and an error message appeared. Incorrect black cartridge installed
I just used it yesterday, what is wrong???

I keep getting this message "Cannot Connect to PC." when I try to scan something. I now the cable is connected and I just printed something before. I tried restarting my computer, the printer and pulling the USB cord out and then putting it back it but nothing. I did download the drivers for it but Do I need to download sepret drivers for the scanner? IF so where can I get them...?
XP?
Are you trying to use the scanner by the pressing of the SCAN button? cause I'm afraid that feature is no longer supported in the all in one drivers now provided for that machine by HP. You can scan but it must be done via XP's inbuilt features there is a link below to explain XP procedures now required to scan.
How to scan
They also do not provide Original Character Reconignition software but see this link on YOU MAY ALREADY HAVE OCR SOFTWARE
or if you don't you could try this free OCR program
oh and there is no facility to use the Auto Doc. Feeder on scanning any more.
Cheers

This seems to be a common big problem with the HP 750. What is the cause of this, does something get dull or faided in the scanner?
The failure is probably due to a bad signal coming from the "eye" that controls the warming up. The "eye" has to catch a reflection from a small mirror which is probably dirty and reflects nothing at all ! So you always get continuously "warming up" .....
The mirrorl is somewhere very near the moving lamp.
I managed to repair my psc in cleaning that mirror. But ... be very carefull; it is not easy to open the printer and when you disconnect the command ribbon, write down how you did it !
I wish everyone patience, good luck and .... success !

I have been using my printer (all-in-one) with no problems, then out of the blue I start getting the "Incorrect color printer cartridge installed" error. I have the HP 78 color cartridge installed and it's been working up until today.
I removed it then reinstalled it but cannot get the error to clear and allow me to use the print function. HELP!!
I had this same problem and by a luck I fixed it. Not sure if the method to the madness had anything to do with it, but I'll put it down in the order that I did everything.
1. reset to factory defaults
2. pulled all cartridges out. it prompted me to put color in first, then black. message was still blinking so i took out color and put it back in again.
3. i did the partial reset by holding down cancel and left arrow while i unplugged/replugged the printer.
4. no the printer started displaying "remove and check color cartridge" (or something to that degree)
5. i took out color cartridge, cleaned the contacts with water on towel, and replaced cartridge.
6. same message still being displayed, but it allowed me to print a maintenance report. so i then cleaned cartridges and aligned cartridges through standard menu.
7. msg still being displayed, so i turned off/on printer again. this time it came back up with no message at all.
8. printer now works
hope this helps and works for ya'll too!

I filled the black cartridge and reinstalled it as I usually do. Then this message came up. Error.... Black ink cartridge installed incorrectly or that it's not the correct cartridge. It won't print or copy. It keeps making a noise like it's trying to get into the resting position. The position it stays in on the right. What do I do?
Just replace the cartridge.

My hp psc 750 all-in -one printer will print fine but i can't get the scanner to work. it always says "scanner failure" and when i press the start scan button it says "options not set" is there anything i can do to fix this?
A friend of mine had a HP printer (Not a PSC 750) that he had simply plugged into his computer and was able to print properly but received the "options not set" message when he tried to scan.
The solution was to install the HP driver package for his printer.
If you are using the default Windows drivers for your printer you may need to install the HP driver package to access all of your printers functions.

I just put in a new color ink cartridge(for the second time). Now trying to align new cartridge but it's only printing in black ink, no color! Yes I removed the paper covering cartridge, tried several times to align cartridges. I even printed self-test report which did not print the colors, only prints in black. WHY is it only printing in black & white?
To solve the
printing problem..
# Hold the cartridge upside down, with the
bar-code label facing you and take a damp paper towel.
# Use the towel to wipe the printhead of the
cartridge on the bottom (where the ink comes out). Wipe the printhead
horizontally in one direction only (left to right).
# Continue doing this until it looks clean.
# Then dab the cartridge on the towel to make sure
the ink is flowing.
# Next, look inside the printer and locate the
carrier that holds ink cartridges. Caution: Make sure the cartridges are not
installed at this point.
1. Look for a shiny piece of metal underneath the
contacts at the back of the carrier.
2. Take a damp cotton swab (use water only!) and
wipe along the bottom of the shiny metal piece. Note: You may need more than
one swab.
# Reinstall the cartridges, making sure you snap
them correctly into the printer.
Hope this help. Please

My printer won't work on my machine, which is running windows 7 professional 64bit. The software for the printer won't install anything either. Is there a way to manually download the driver from HP? Windows says it needs a driver but wont install anything automatically. The HP website says that windows 7 downloads all printer drivers automatically.
Please install new driver and get it downloaded here :

I keep getting a "Scanner Failure" error message every time I try to make a copy. I have tried all the trouble shooting the HP manual suggests but still no luck. Anyone know how to get rid of this problem so I can make copies again?
This series of HP all-in-one units have a common problem that, over time, the exposure lamp. which is florescent, goes dim. The scanner looks for the right amount of light, and if it doesn't see it, it gives you the scanner failure. In some rare cases, you can dismantle and clean the mirrors and lens in the scanner, but most of the time it doesn't work.
There are no parts available for this unit.
