You must be using HP94 95.
Have you refill your cartridge at all?
If you did, gentely wipe out the cartridge circuit part with Q-tip (with bit of alcohol).
And wipe out the circuit part in the printer where cartridge goes in as well.
And try back.
Sometimes by having some dust or bit of ink make cartridge unreadable.
If you used brand new, do same thing to cartridge circuit part.
Otherwise, there got to be some circuit shot happen in printer.
For your reference, HP 1610 is not a new model and has not cause major problem.
Good practical and durability is good.
If you would like to save money, try refill kit by "ROADINK".
Not only they are easy, but also the printing quality is good.

I got a message "Remove and check color
you can try to remove and clean the chip contacts of the cartridge and or the cartridge housing. if it still doesnt work try resetting the printer ink counter.

I had the same problem on mu HP 1200 series all in one printer; I have two of the same printers.
I couldn't believe that the ink cartridge was the problem because BOTH cartridges, black and color were fairly new and giving good copy results;
Finally after taking the printer apart, checking transformer and gears, and cleaning up the cartridge faces... STILL the same problem;
I replaced the both black AND color cartridge with a brand new one, and it worked perfectly.
So now I am stuck with 2 cartridges, half-used, that the printer will not accept.

There should be a toolbox application. Go to the program files folder for it and look for it. Sometimes it may be on the start menu programs. Under the printer. That app has an alighnment option It prints a series of + signs and you have to choose the best ones. and lines.
That is all I can think of.
Scanner does not work with
I have a hp 1210 all in one , I had the same problem , go to hp web site and down load a upgrade driver .
I am using the hp
sounds like a memory error. Try unpluging the printer power and the data cable and plug the power back to see if it makes any changes
It keeps trying to do the alignment but says to
try the following:
first make sure, the load tray is not overloaded, that the paper is paper that you have been able to use before on your printer and the right size, not used and proper thickness for your printer. make sure also that the paper is not adjusted to tight on the tray.
1. reset your printer:
- Without turning the product off, remove the power cord from the
back of the product.
- Wait 30
seconds and then plug the power cord into the back of the product.

If the product is not already on, use the On
button to turn it on.
2. check that the paper being used is paper that your printer can use or has used (use unused paper), Insert the stack of paper into the product and gently push the paper
guides snugly against the paper. Make sure that the paper is completely
inserted into the product and can be picked up by the paper rollers.
3. review the printer settings in the print driver
- Open a document in the program being
used to print.

, click Print
, and then click Properties
. The product Properties
dialog box appears.

Click
the Paper/Quality
tab.

Choose the appropriate
paper size from the Size is
drop-down menu.

Choose the
appropriate paper type from the Type is
drop-down menu.

and then click OK
again to print the document.
4. you may need to get a product form hp to clean the feed rollers (
HP Paper Feed Cleaning Kit) or simply try to do this on your own as follows:
- Turn off the product and
unplug the power cord.
- Open
the access door to gain access to the rollers. Depending on the model,
this is usually the rear access door. See the product user guide for
information about locating the rollers.
- Clean the rubber rollers with a lint-free
cloth, lightly moistened with water.
- Make sure that any paper rollers that
rest on the input tray, which are located behind the back rollers, are
cleaned. A clean cotton swab, lightly moistened with water, might be
necessary to reach these rollers.
- Close the access door and plug in the power cord.
- Try printing again.
If the issue is not
resolved you may have to take the printer and have it serviced by HP directly!

Run through the "setup" menu on the printer's LCD screen, and make sure that you have selected 'ENGLISH' menus (not something like Korean or Ukrainian or Hungarian).
Any printer-software on your PC *cannot* change this setting in the printer.
