I now have a message on my 6110xi printer which

Try another cartridge. Sometimes they go bad. If the message goes away, then your cartridge is bad. Otherwise, try cleaning off the contacts where the cartridge goes in.

My HP6110xi All-In-One doesn't want to scan

First, scans and copies don't really use the computer. Can you print a document from your printer. If not, then your problem is within the computer.

If it does print then....

Try using the scan feature within the HP solution center. It works on mine but the scan button on the printer does. Also some art programs have and "ACQUIRE" feature under file to scan with. (Sometimes called TWAIN.)

Hope this helps, so you can start scanning.

good luck

Press enter to align cartridges won't go

For these all-in-one devices this usually indicates that the sensors are so dirty they can't tell when the cartridges are in place and properly aligned. Sometimes, but not by any means all the time, replacing the cartridges with factory fresh (not knock-off) cartridges can get you past this issue but for the ones we have at the office, once the device starts doing this we tend to send them to asset recovery and get something newer.

You might check for paper dust inside the mechanism or ink smears, but these devices are notoriously hard to clean very well.

Machine won't print

Scanner failure means that the scanner bulb is no longer working. There are a few things that can sometimes bring it back but it may be a permanent issue.
1) Make sure printer is directly into the wall and not a surge protector or power strip
2) Remove cartridges from printer
3) Unplug power from back of printer and wait 30 seconds
4) While printer is unplugged press the # and 6 keys and plug power cord in. Keep holding # and 6 until the printer has either powered off or it says semi-full reset
5) Go through initialization process - if it works great the issue with firmware is fixed. If not then the scanner bulb isn't functioning and you are looking at replacing the unit.

I continue to receive "Paper too narrow. Load with wider paper"

Check the Paper Size Settings.

The only document I found at HP.com that may seem to address your issue is the following:

A 'Paper Mismatch' or 'Paper too Narrow' Error Occurs While Receiving a Fax

I receive a consistent message

Ensure you are using original HP cartridges. Using refilled/generic inks can cause this problem.
If you are using original inks, try cleaning the contacts of the cartridges gently with isopropyl alcohol. Should it still fail, get them replaced.

The above solution was Comment by IrishDruid, posted on Jun 01, 2008. I tried it on my HP officeject 6110xi (using alcohol swabs). It worked perfectly.
