Clearing a paper jam

If the paper jams in the printer, follow the steps below to clear the jam:

Remove the paper stack from both paper trays.

Press the POWER button. Instead of turning off, the printer will try to eject the jammed sheet.

If the printer cannot eject the paper, unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.

NOTE: Do not press the POWER button again before unplugging the power cord.

Open the rear access door at the back of the printer. To do this, press the handle to the right and then pull out the door.

Remove the jammed paper. Make sure no small pieces or obstructions remain.

Reattach the rear access door and plug the power cord back into the printer.

The printer will turn on automatically and be ready for printing again.

Reload the paper in the IN tray.

Try printing again.

First, you have to have the duplex assembly installed. Then, when you go to the printing window, instead of pressing print, press preferences and under the 2 sided print make sure you select 2 sided print long edge. Click OK then Print.

This would probably get your software installed however you do have windows 7 which has drivers for all printers go ahead and power on the printer ,plug in the printer.Now in control panel open device and printers and click on add a printer select the port(USB) click on next and under Hewlett Packard select your printer and click on next ,again next and finish the installation ,presto you should have your printer installed perfectly now.Please understand your printer is pretty old and if u call in HP they will give you an upgrade option with a 60/70% discount so you can try the above if it doesn't work then please call in at 1800-474-6836 and see what other options you have

You can download the HP printer drivers from their supportWEB site. Please click on this link and select your model printer to download:- http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/support.html

Click on START button - Click on RUN - TYPE CMD ( or COMMAND ) and click OK

you will see Black window on screen
Type NET START SPOOLER ( hit enter key )
Type SC CONFIG SPOOLER DEPEND= RPCSS ( exactly as i have typed) and Hit Enter

try to print - it should work. Incase if it does not work, You need to reset the Printer Spooler Service. I would like to know if you are using XP or Vista ? please reply back to this same comment.

Unfortunately, HP LJ 1010 is not supported in Windows 7.

Please vote if that was helpfull.

Open all doors, remove toner, reinsert toner and shut door. Shut off the printer. Wait.....Turn printer back on.

If red light is still flashing, go to: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=c00028320#A0 to help identify what it might be. This is an HP site so it is safe.

please go to start menu, select devices and printers, make sure that your printer is there and active (not dimmed), if not check the connection between your computer and your printer..

try uninstalling then reinstalling the ink cartridge, if problem still exists consider visiting the nearest service center..
