Please make sure about its data cable because it is data cable issue. You can resolve if you can change its data cable otherwise replugged the data cable.

Below is a possible fix is to disable bidirectional support. Open the printer in the Control panel. Click "Printer", choose "Properties" and "Ports" tab, and at the bottom, Uncheck "Enable bidirectional support"

Pls check to see what is written on the screen. it comes with error codes then we can continue from there.

It is not the printer, this is a MacBook issue. Most people just turn off the printer and turn it back on to print.

Spring might be missed at left side., see the snaps as attached..

Just wait for the first copy to be printed out and remove the rest of the paper to stop waisting it. Open the print queue on the computer, control panel, printers and faxes/devices and printers and delete the print job. It may take a while so be patient. Once deleted, power-cycle the printer and put the paper back in it.

After you remove the jam, check your rollers because they are probably worn out.

My dear, First install the software of your HP laser jet 1020 only without attaching the printer and then attach printer when it will require otherwise if it will not require during installation. You should take a reboot and then attach it and computer installed its driver automatically starting to end of installation CD should be remain inside the CD-Rom. After the complete installation once again take a reboot and now after the hook up your computer, your printer work properly.
