Paper jam

Hi Good day!! Follow this method to remove your paper jam:

1. Check to make sure that the power cord is securely plugged into an active wall outlet if your printer is not turning on.

2. Make sure that the USB cable connecting your computer to your printer is securely connected if your printer powers on but will not perform a print job.

3. Remove a paper jam if the "Check Paper" light on the front of the printer is blinking. To do this, first turn off the printer and unplug the power cord from the printer. Open the front cartridge door and locate the jammed paper. Gently pull the jammed paper toward you. Plug the printer back in and turn it back on.

4. Connect your printer to a different USB port on your computer if you are experiencing slow printing. The slowness could be due to a connection problem with your computer's USB port. After you've switched the port, try your print job again.

5. Make sure that a phone line is securely connected from a phone jack to your printer if you are having trouble sending or receiving faxes.

6. Clean the scanner surface if your scans are blurry or have vertical white or black lines. To do this, spray the a soft, lint-free cloth with a mild glass cleaner. Wipe the scanner glass with the cloth and then dry it with another clean lint-free cloth.

7. Hard reset the printer if you are having trouble solving your problem. Turn the printer off and remove the power cord from the wall outlet. Wait at least 15 seconds and plug the cord back in. Power the printer on and try your job again.

8. Restart your computer if you can't solve your printing or scanning job. Sometimes restarting the computer can solve an unseen problem.

Don't forget to vote thanks!!!

The alignment page will continue to print until the alignment is complete. Put the page on the scanner face down on the glass. (Make sure the alignment page printed on plain bright white paper (A4 or letter). Also correctly orient the page on the glass - the section with black squares should be to the left.) Press the scan button and wait until the power button stops blinking.

If the alignment page continues to print, remove the ink cartridges and inspect them. You want to look for any debris (including part of the tape that kept the ink from drying out). Replace the cartridges and check if the problem has been resolved. Do the complete alignment again.

If it persists, clean the electrical contacts with clean water (distilled or bottled) and cotton swabs or lint free material (coffee filters will work). Remove the cartridges and then unplug the printer. Dampen the swab (or alternate material), squeeze out any excess moisture. Hold the cartridge by the sides and wipe the copper-colored contacts until no excess ink is present. Place the cartridges with the nozzles facing up on a clean sheet of paper. Repeat this for all of the cartridges. Then clean the copper contacts inside the printer. Let dry for 10 minutes and then reinstall the cartridges and plug in the power cord. Do the complete alignment.

If the problem persists, try new ink cartridges followed by resetting the printer (preferably you should reconnect at an outlet on a different circuit). The reset procedure: turn on the printer and then remove the power cord from the printer. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet and plug in directly at a different outlet. (no power strips, surge protector or extension cord) Load the paper tray with plain white paper (letter or A4). Plug the power cord into the printer. Turn on the printer and do the complete alignment again.

If this step doesn't solve the problem, then the printer needs service. It is not keeping the alignment in memory.

Refilled or remanufactured cartridges can be involved in the problem. The printer usually remembers the alignment when a cartridge is removed and reinserted. Clogged nozzles on an ink cartridge can also be involved.

I hope this helps.

Every time I turn off the printer, when I turn it

This problem is caused by not adjusting the printer after replaceing the ink cartridge. You will have to aline the cartridge by printing out a scan page then putting it in the scanner and selecting the lines that line up best for the printer. Once you have done the alinement process it will no longer do this. Every HP I have owned has done this. here is the page to go to to set it up to stop this problem. Hope this helps and thanks for using Fix-ya. Let me know if this helped.

How do you scan an

Use the scan features
Scanning is the process of converting text and pictures into an electronic format for
your computer. You can scan just about anything: photos, magazine articles, text
documents, and even 3D objects, as long as you are careful not to scratch the glass
on your HP All-in-One.
You can use the scanning features of your HP All-in-One to do the following:
● Scan text from an article into your word processor and quote it in a report.
● Print business cards and brochures by scanning a logo and using it in your
publishing software.
● Send photos to friends and relatives by scanning your favorite prints and
including them in e-mail messages.
● Create a photographic inventory of your house or office, or archive treasured
photos in an electronic scrapbook.
To use the scan features, your HP All-in-One and computer must be connected and
turned on. The HP All-in-One software must also be installed and running on your
computer prior to scanning. To verify that the HP All-in-One software is running on a
Windows computer, look for the HP Digital Imaging Monitor in the system tray at the
lower right side of the screen, near the time. On a Mac, the HP All-in-One software is
always running.
Note Closing the HP Windows system tray icon can cause your HP All-in-
One to lose some of its scan functionality and result in the No Connection
error message. If this happens, you can restore full functionality by restarting
your computer or by starting the HP Image Zone software.
For information on how to scan from the computer, and how to adjust, resize, rotate,
crop, and sharpen your scans, see the onscreen HP Image Zone Help that came with
your software.
This chapter contains information on: sending a scan to and from different
destinations, and adjusting the preview image.
Scan to an application
You can scan originals placed on the glass directly from the control panel.
1. Load the original face down on the right front corner of the glass.
2. Press Start Scan on the control panel.
A preview image of the scan appears in the HP Document Viewer window on
the computer, where you can edit it.
For more information on editing a preview image, see the onscreen HP Image
Zone Help
that came with your software.
3. Make any edits to the preview image in the HP Scan window. When you have
finished, click Accept.
The HP All-in-One sends the scan to the HP Image Zone software, which
automatically opens and displays the image.
User Guide 31
Scan
The HP Image Zone has many tools that you can use to edit your scanned image.
You can improve the overall image quality by adjusting the brightness, sharpness,
color tone, or saturation. You can also crop, straighten, rotate, or resize the image.
When the scanned image looks just the way you want it, you can open it in another
application, send it through e-mail, save it to a file, or print it. For more
information on using the HP Image Zone, see the onscreen HP Image Zone Help.

Interesting you encountered this issue. My PSC 1501 began exhibiting the same issue on Aug 16, 2010 in the middle of copying a sheet. The keypad appears to be seated properly. That was the only solution I could find related to this. Has anyone solved this issue? P.S. The printer has served me well for about 3 years now.
