Prints test copy every time I switch it on.
All right so you are getting print test copy every time you turn on or switch on your printer. You can follow the following steps to fix this issue:-
1.. Turn off the printer and wait 10 seconds. Turn it on again
2. Let the printer print the test page.
3.
After the test page is printed, disconnect the USB cable connecting the
printer to your computer. DO NOT turn off the printer while
disconnecting the USB cable.
4. Place
the test page on the scanner glass and press the SCAN button
on the printer. The ON light will flash as the page is being scanned.
5. Remove the test page when the ON light is steady.
6. Finally, turn off the printer and wait another 10 seconds. Then turn it on again. No more printing test pages! Yay!
(You may now reconnect the printer to your computer via the USB cable.)
let me know if it fix this issue and helpful to you.
Not recognizing ink cartridge?
1.Check the ink. Printers are picky machines. They are programmed so that they would recognise a particular kind of ink. Thus, when you buy compatible ink cartridges, make sure that these ink are truly ones specifically made for your printer. Otherwise, the ink will not work with your printer.
2.Follow the instructions to the letter. Just like the manufacturers of original printer cartridges, the manufacturers of compatible ink cartridges have instructions on how you should place and install the cartridges in the printer. You should follow these instructions to the letter so you can be sure that they would work.
3.Clean the printer head. It is also possible that the reason why the printer would not recognise the compatible ink cartridges you bought is that the printer head itself is clogged. Such problems can occur, especially when you have not used the printer in a long time. You can clean the clogged printer heads with a cleaning solution made especially for printer heads.
If the cartridge itself is the one that is blocked, you can try soaking the cartridge in warm water first. Afterwards, dry it with a lint-free rag and then install it in your printer.
4.Check the circuitry in your printer. Another possible reason why the printer would not read your compatible ink cartridges is that the printer itself has a problem with the circuitry. You can try topping the cartridge with ink first before reinstalling it into the printer.
If that fails, you should bring your printer to the repair shop. Be warned though: If your printer is under warranty, the warranty will no longer be valid if it is found out that you have used compatible ink cartridges.
My 1510 sounds like a machine gun before it prints
With consumer-level HP printers, when this starts happening, youre pretty much out of luck. It basically means that the gears that control the position of the inkjet cartridge/print head are being stripped because the sensor that controls their position and tells them when to stop is malfunctioning.
The only real solution I can think of is to replace your printer. I myself have had several printers die in just this way.

CANT FIND MY DIRECTIONS-HOW DO I SCAN A PICTURE?
Hi k_eddings06,
Based on your concern, i suggest tyring these steps:
1. Place the item you intend to scan in the appropriate place.
2. Locate the HP Solution Center programme, which may be accessible from a desktop icon.
3. Open up this programme by double-clicking on the icon, to enable you to scan and modify your picture.
4. Click on 'Scan Picture' Click 'Scan', and 'Accept' on the next screen to begin scanning the image on the printer.
5. You will then be able to modify the picture, crop as desired, and export to various programmes and formats as desired. You may also be able to print directly from this screen if required.
