have you downloaded the correct driver for xp? has your pc got the latest xp driver installer from microsoft installed? there is not a lot of the latest drivers for periphials that will work with xp cos there is no support. try using a older version i loved xp it was a good system but i could not get it to work with later drivers for printers etc.drivers

Not sure about your model. But that ribbon is very likely the cord that send information to your print cartridge. It is supposed to be slack so that the print cartridges can move left and right. If you are able to reconnect it and make it stay you should be good. Likely when it is in the furthest position it is getting too tight and coming loose again. Hopes this helps.

Not sure the make of machine you have but I have had this on a Canon machine it could be the controller board or a diod on the laser unit

It uses cartridges, to change ink cartridge open from the section where the paper comes out from, take a good look you would find a small groove where your finger can enter then pull. while it is ON the ink carrier moves to the convienient position.

Hi Yvonne,Try the steps belowGo to Start / Run and type in "services.msc" without quotation marks, then press Enter or click OK.(If you are using Windows Vista/Win 7, You need to click on START button and under search program and files - Enter the Services.msc and click the same program from Program list that appear )In the window that opens (Services) look for "Print Spooler" on the rightRight-click "Print Spooler" and select "Properties".Click on the "Recovery" tab and change all 3 drop-down boxes to "Restart The Service".Make sure the 2 text boxes underneath say "1" in them.Click Ok until you are back at the Services window, close it and you're good to go.Go back into the properties of the "Print Spooler" tab and be sure to click Start to restart the Print Spooler service and it will restart the service immediately.The Print spooler depends on the Remote Procedure Call (RPC) service. These steps will take you through the process of replacement and alignment.

HP PSC 2175 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1. Turn on the unit, then open the print-carriage access door by lifting the
handle until the door locks into place. The print carriage moves to the center of the unit.

2. After the carriage stops moving, lift the latch to release the print cartridge, then pull it toward you out of its slot.

3. If you are removing the black print cartridge in order to install the photo print cartridge, store it in the print cartridge protector.

4. Remove the new print cartridge from its packaging and, being careful to touch only the black plastic, gently remove the plastic tape.

Caution! Do not touch the copper contacts or ink nozzles.

5. Push the new print cartridge into the appropriate slot until it clicks into place. The tri-color print cartridge goes on the left and the black or photo print cartridge goes on the right.

6. Pull the end of the latch toward you, press down until it stops, and then release. Make sure the latch catches below the bottom tabs.

7. Close the print-carriage access door.

The HP PSC prompts you to align cartridges every time you install or replace a print cartridge.

Aligning the cartridges ensures high-quality output.

To align the print cartridges when prompted:
1. Press Enter on the front panel. A page of patterns is printed. The cartridges are aligned correctly. Recycle or discard the page.

To align the cartridges at any other time:
1. Press Setup.
2. Press 2, then press 2.
This selects Maintenance, and then selects Align Print Cartridges.
