Hp 7410: Error msg: Remove and check color cartridge. Is this a deathnell for this machine? I cannot seem to get past it even after removing and replacing.

There are several possible issues causing the problem. The color cartridge could be faulty. The contacts on the cartridge and the associated contacts inside the printer may be dirty. Finally, the cartridge chute may be damaged or printer may need service. You can try a new HP cartridge. Next try cleaning the contacts with distilled (or bottled water) and Q-tips or lint free cloth. With the printer on, open the lid and remove the cartridges when they stop moving. Disconnect the power cord from the printer to stop the machine in the open state. Clean the cartridge contacts and the matching contacts in the machine. Dry the contacts with a new Q-tip or wait 10 minutes before replacing the cartridges. See http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01423559&tmp_task=solveCategory&cc=us&dlc=en&lang=en&lc=en&product=391194 for pictures. Then close the cover and reconnect power cord. You can repeat the cleaning step if it doesn't solve the problem. If this doesn't work, look at the cartridge chute area to see if the spring is dislodged or the tab is broken. Again see the link above. In that case, the unit needs service. If it is under warranty, contact HP. Otherwise, decide if it is worth the repair cost.I hope this helps. Cindy Wells

HP Office jet printer slow

I think it's that black cartridge! The problem you've described is typically caused by one of the cartridges failing. Try removing the black cartridge and printing (not copying) a test page. If this prints at near normal speed the black cartridge is at fault and should be replaced. If the printer still prints slowly then put the black cartridge back in and remove the color cartridge, then print a page. Replacing the cartridge that causes the slow printing with a fresh cartridge will resolve the issue. Assuming the cartridges are original HP (not re-manufactured or refilled) you can check the warranty status by CLICKING HERELet me know how you make out.Ben

You can try cleaning the rubber wheels with alcohol. Sometimes they become covered in dust and won't grab the paper.

OfficeJet 7410 wont boot up.

I would try resetting the power supply. You can do this by unplugging the power adapter cable from the wall outlet.Unplug the other end from the printer.Unplug the power cable portion from the rectangular power adapter. You should be left with a power cord, a power adapter, and a printer; All three are not plugged into anything. Leave it this way for 30 secs, then retry the turn-on process after plugging the cords back into where they belong. Also, try plugging straight into a wall outlet, and not into a surge protector. If this is not working still, double check the outlet in question by testing it with an appliance like a hair dryer or lamp.Good luck!Bruce

Multiple pages feed when printing on hp 7410

  • If the automatic document feeder (ADF) does not pick up any pages at all, the rollers inside the automatic document feeder need to be cleaned.
  • If the automatic document feeder picks up multiple pages instead of single sheets, the separator pad inside the automatic document feeder needs to be cleaned.
SolutionLoad one or two sheets of unused plain white full-size paper into the document feeder tray, and then press Start Copy Black to pull the pages through the automatic document feeder. The plain paper releases and absorbs residue from the rollers and separator pad.note.pngNOTE:If the automatic document feeder does not pick up the plain paper, try cleaning the front roller. Wipe the roller with a soft lint-free cloth dampened with distilled water. If the problem persists, or the automatic document feeder does not pick up the plain paper, clean the rollers and separator pad manually. Follow the procedures below to remove the face plate from the front of the automatic document feeder, access the pick assembly inside the automatic document feeder, clean the rollers or separator pad, and then reattach the face plate. Please Click on this link to know more in detail. Thanks
