Stuck on "initilizing"

There are 3 things that will prevent it from going "ready"; they are

1. a paper jam (did you retrieve all of the page out of the printer?), all it take is a small piece of paper in the wrong spot and that will do it.

2. No paper in the paper tray.

3. The ink or toner cartridge is not seated properly or just plain missing. A color laserjet has 4 cartridges.

Good Luck!!!

Cannot print in black because color cartidge is out of ink

There is a 'low toner' override in the menu system, but if this has NOT been set already, a 'flag' will be set on the chip on the cartridges that are low/empty.

The printer needs to 'see' cartridges that are usable, i.e. NOT empty, in order to function.

It is possible to replace just the chips on the colour cartridges, but then any colour printing quality could be compromised of course, as the colours will be low/empty. You would then be able to use the printer as if it were a mono laser, just changing the black cartridge when needed

I'm printing Microsoft Word 2008 for mac files to an HP2600n printer and the tables with shading that has any blue in it comes out black. Why? Why?

It's possible that the Cyan toner is low or depleted. If so, the printer will print the blue areas in black. This is a possible way to check:1. Open your Applications folder and double click on "System Preferences."2. When it opens, click on the printer icon with "Print & Scan" underneath it.3. Click on the HP2600 printer on the left, then click "Options & Supplies"4. Click on "Supply Levels." Check the Cyan toner cartridge. If it's low, then you'll have to buy and install a new one. Here is a link to the HP cartridge page. You'll have to consult the information that came with the printer on how to replace the cartridge.

HP 1600 Colour laserjet Double image

Colour registration problem (some printer loose their registration from time to time).

There will be an option somewhere in the menu system of the printer, or the HP 'Toolbox' to correct this.
