Sad to say I know how to fix this.
1. Power up the printer
2. set printer's date to the current day.
3. On the keypad press the * and # keys together
Now press one at a time 1,2,3 for the code
"screen stould display a white backround with 2 lines of info"
4. remove all the print cartridges
5. Press the >> arrow button twice until "reset menu" is found
6. Press OK
7. Select Partially full reset Press ok
( the printer will take almost to minutes before it powers down)
8. Power up the printer and follow the steps.
reinstall ink ect......
I don't know why this happens but I sure a lot of printers are in the trash because of this. If you print out a SELF TEST REPORT the
dates on the age of the ink Cartridges are likely out of life range.
Planned obsolescence by HP can be found all over the web. This could be one of those.

Check the to make sure you didn't choose the option print to file.... shut down the computer, unplug the printer wait 30 seconds ( if wire less then unplug the modem as well and check the connections by removing wires and re inserting) make sure the ink cartage is seated and door closed, power it up, power up the modem, power up the computer, clean memory and try again... should work.... and check for paper..
Hello friend,
IF you are SURE it is a 7580 ? Then there appears to be no manual !!!! HP are VERY good with support and the nearest machine to yours I can find is the 7550. It must be VERY similar to yours, either way you will be on the right site :)
Go here for all the'how to use' etc info on the machine
