HP Compaq Evo w4000 PC Desktop Questions & Answers
I forgeten password
You can reset the bios password by shunting the appropriate wires on the motherboard or you can remove the battery for a few hours. You can find out which wires from the manual which you can download. Make sure the manual is for the motherboard that is in your computer. Sometimes the same model of computer will not necessarily have the same motherboard, so you have to go by the number on the motherboard rather than the case.
If the password is for windows or some other software rather than the bios then this won't work. I recommend that you do not set a password for the bios unless this will be a public computer.

If your operating system is windows then it is unstable.
can you manage to do restore point recovery and choose an ealier date?
try opening the computer not only from safe mode but also using minimal

Hey karl12, i think some more info would be helpful. Any big event that made this start. Have you tried running memtest 86? If you have multiple sticks of RAM try each one. Is there any beeping during boot up? Have you tried using a windows disc to boot to a repair console? Also what are your bios settings? Have you tried changing to load safe defaults in your bios? Is your bios recognizing your boot hard drive? These should help limit the possibilities.
