Miele S548 Bagged Canister Vacuum Questions & Answers
Power is on but no suction....
I recommend taking your vacuum to a qualified repair person for diagnosis and/ or repairs. Electronic repairs can be fairly reasonable to fix but much more expensive and dangerous if not done properly
Machine running hot. new bag but red flag
you may have a blockage in either the hose, the telescopic wand or the power nozzle/floor attachment. The easiest way to tell, as you have a new bag in there is to disconnect the hose and start the machine. If the suction is good there, start to narrow it down. Take apart the hose from the telescopic wand, take the attachment off and look through the wand. Look in the connection on the attachment as well. If not there, look inside both ends of the hose, you may need a flashlight for this, and see if there is anything blocking there.
If the hose is blocked, you can try to unblock it by turning the machine on and inserting the handle into the machine where the hose would attach to the unit. Sometimes this reverse of suction is enough to dislodge whatever is in the hose.
Good luck

My Miele S548 does not turn on. I am suspecting
heya,
your exactly right. there is probably 2 or 3 screws your missing there.
now getting to these screws is easy. If you haven't already, remove the top filter and the bag door lid.
Assuming you have taken the screw out holding the black control panel out already... you want to remove the black panel with your on/off switch and the cord rewind. Once you have the panel off there are a couple of screws there that are holding you back. once removed, you should have full access to the underneath with the motor and cord rewinder there.
Good luck,
Mark
Miele canister keeps shutting off
Was it hot when you pressed "+" button? Did you check the filters(Hepa) or bag if clogged or suction path was blocked? Does it happen after it was cool down? From what you said, it seems none of the above. Only thing I can think of is circuit board. The mortor runs in variable speed. "+" increase the average voltage to the motor thus higher suction. PWM circuit in main pcb may not working correctly.
High priced vacuum cleaner like this shouldn't fail like this but it does. JMO.
Does not vacuum effectively
The burning smell may be the motor that's on its way out. Vacuuming with a blocked pipe or sucking up liquids may cause the motor to burn prematurely. The motors arent very expensive, but on the small vacuum cleaners it is sometimes more cost effective to go for a cheap second hand vacuum than to fix it. Depends on if the guy that fixed it is trustworthy, but i can guarantee you the secondhand machine will not have a lifelong guarantee on it. ask for prices on the motor and decide which you can afford.
Have a miele S546 vac. and it won't turn on.
If you vacuum wont turn on it is most likely the cord winder. This is a pretty big repair, you wouldn't want to attempt it yourself. Most shops should be able to repair the cord winder for about $50-75. If you need a new cord winder expect to pay about $150.
S548 won't turn on
Check power to motor and check to see if there is a fuse or relay. You can test relay with ohmmeter.
Canister vacuum keeps turning off, can push
its sounds like the problem is either the power head wire which when your using it and twisting it left and right, turns it off.. Or it could be in the hose where the connect meets with the unit.
