Motorola SB4200 Modem IP not working

You can always do the 30-30-30 reset as follows:
  1. When router is powered on, press the reset button and hold for 30 seconds. (Use a paper clip or something sharp)
  2. While holding the reset button pressed, unplug the power of the router and hold the reset button for 30 seconds
  3. While still holding the reset button down, turn on the power to the unit again and hold for another 30 seconds.
This should allow for a full reset of the modem. Once that's done, connect your computer to it with an Ethernet cable to access it's WebUI using the Default Gateway (192.168.100.1), or connect to the WIFI using the default SSID and Password that are usually written on the modem itself. I hope this works!

Sb4200 modem standby problem

This isn't much help, but be aware that this is an old modem, so no surprise that Arris cannot help with it. The process you describe sounds like what I just went through with a BRAND NEW Arris DG860A modem. The modem is going through the boot-up process normally when it cycles through "power, receive, online, send". Mine did the same thing. But without more info, I don't know if the rest will apply to your modem. In the case of the DG860A, which was owned by me, Comcast technicians both online and in-person could not get it to authorize on the Comcast network. Even though Comcast replaced my DG860 with their DG860, it is believed that my model did not have the Comcast generated code needed for authorization, and for some reason would not accept it. So in short, if this is a new modem installation of an older modem, it may be lacking a piece of code necessary for the network to authorize it.

I have a motorola sb4200

Thank you for the detailed information. Not having internet can be frustrating! If the "Online" light is not turning on, that means it is not obtaining an IP address from your internet service provider. Since the "send" and "receive" lights are blinking, this means the coaxial cable (Tv cable) is screwed in.

I would suggest finding a phone number for your internet service provider to assist you further. There may be a service outage in your general area, or there may be a localize issue. They may have to go through troubleshooting with you over the phone, so you may have to unplug the modem, and maybe even bypass the Netgear router to troubleshoot with them. If the issue cannot be resolved over the phone, they may need to send out a repair man to resolve your issue.

Need ip address subnet mask

If the ip address you need is the Internet IP address, this is assigned by you service provider.
If you need an internal ip address, have a look in the modems configuration window.
This window is accessed using internet explorer and typing in the local address of the modem, usually this is 192.168.1.1 so enter this number. If this does not work, go to the modem manufacturers website and in the support section should be the manual (if you dont have one) and in the manual will be the ip address to access the modems configuration pages.
You must undertake these steps with your PC connected to the modem using a network cable, this will not work if you try this using a wireless link.
Usually, the admin and password details are admin admin. So type admin in the name section and admin in the password section.
Once you access the configuration area, navigate to the DHCP area and turn DHCP on.
DHCP stand for Dynamic Host Control Protocol. This simply gives an internal ip address to all the machines connected to the network.
Once this is done, save and reboot the modem and your PC.
Next, click on start and then run and enter CMD into the run dialog box.
When the text window opens, type in : ipconfig /all
dont forget the space between ipconfig and the / symbol
This will give you a list, in this list is the gateway ip address etc.
Usually, the DNS address is assigned automatically by your service provider but if not, you may have to contact them to get this number.
If you are trying to connect a second PC to the modem, all these details will be entered for you as long as you have "Obtain ip addresses automatically" ticked in the properties window of network connections. This is under the network connections applet in control panel. make sure everything is set to automatic.
