Hi, if your water is overfilling then you probably need a faceplate for your icemaker. If you remove the cover on your icemaker(pry on the corners and pull at same time) You will see a screw with a spring on it. That adjust the water flow. If you tighten you decrease the water. Make sure the gears are not corrioded. If it is. Replace the plate with the gears on it.

his normally could be a bad start relay and over load for the compressor, dirty condenser coils need cleaning, condenser fan motor is not running or the compressor itself. To check the compressor properly you should test it with an amp meter, each compressor is rated in running amps ( see model/serial tag or the sticker on the compressor )...if the compressor is drawing too much current, this may be why it is shutting off. Check the model tag for proper amp rating. Some relays will be easy to notice the broken with them, they may be burnt.

remove the rear cover inside the freezer if it has a lot of frost on it,then the evaporator coil is frozen up and you cant blow cold air over or thru a solid block of ice, defrost it,then check the defrost heating element, defrost thermostat and timer or defrost circuitry for no power or defective components, you can use a hand held hair dryer to defrost it quicker

Good day,
If replacing the relay and overload didn't help, then it is an internal problem in the compressor itself.
If the machine is under 5 years of age, then it is under factory warrant. Call your selling dealer for details, otherwise you have a major problem. You will need the services of a pro and it will be expensive.

the compressor will run hot,but you should be able to touch it without burning yourself.(when you compress a gas, heat is generated as it turns to liquid and when it expands back to a gas it absorbs heat, the principal of a fridge...)

On a99 ge side by side fridge/frezzer water runs
The water that is pooling and freezing inside the bottom of your GE freezer is definitely coming from the defrost cycle. It does this because the freezer compartment inside the back of your freezer intended to carry the defrost water down to the external evaporator tray is blocked with ice. As a result, the defrost water from the coils overflow the collector under the coils and run down the inside back of your freezer and then the water pools on the bottom and re-freezes when the cycle is over. Unplug the unit for 36 hours and let it completely melt. You can also remove the freezer drawer and melt it away with hot water or use a blow dryer to melt the ice.
