Remember that when you hard-reset, all of your personalization and information will be deleted. Here are the steps:

1. Press the POWER button
2. KEEP holding the Power button down, use the stylus pin to gently press and release the Reset button (on the back in the middle of the device) - don't take your finger off the Power button
3. When the "palm powered" screen is displayed, release the Power button after 3 seconds.
4. You'll receive a warning message that you are about to delete everything
5. Press the Scroll button (bottom and center of the device with the triangle symbol on it.

You have now officially hard reset the system and you will need to go through the initialization process again.

Same thing happened to me. If you search Amazon for SJ22 sync cable, you should find some. I ordered $9.95 five-foot cable from Amazon (via Boxwave)--it says In Stock, but then they said it is no longer available, and I had to buy $15 version with retractable very thin cable--hope it lasts.
Downside is that computer needs to be on to charge device.

The software available for this device can be installed in compatibility mode in Windows 7. For this do the following.

1. Right click the installer file and choose properties
2. Go to the compatibility tab and check mark "run this program in compatibility mode for"
3. Choose Windows XP Service pack 2
4. Click Apply.

Hey dude. You don't even have a built-in browser in that handheld. What use can it be of even if you can get wifi to work on it? In addition, this thing has a CPU clock speed as fast as a 80486 Intel desktop CPU, even if you can browse the internet, it will take forever to finish loading a page. Oh, do you know that it only has 16MB internal memory for everything? If you want to check email, use outlook or palm desktop to receive them and sync it to your Clie. This is the closest you can get to the internet with this handheld. Goog luck and don't forget to amaze me by posting a real solution up if you can find anything, I mean anything, better than what I just said.

Have you tried resetting the unit? There's a little button on the back that you can press in with a paper clip. That'll cause the unit to reset (you won't lose data) and then you might be good for charging.

All you have to do is:
Look in the very bottom, right hand corner of the touchpad. You will see a little cog, click that and set it to whatever you want!

Hard Reset CLIE Sony Series

1. Connect the CLIE handheld using the AC adapter and take out the stylus pin by twisting the upper part of the stylus.
2. Push down and hold the power button of the unit and use the stylus to slowly press and release the reset button on the back.
3. When the Palm screen will appear release the power button.
4. At the “Erase all data?” prompt, push the upper part of the scroll button on the front of the device to confirm OK. The Sony pda is now reset and you have only to follow the SetUp steps as prompted.

Press the power button and hit the up button to reset to start.
I have the same issue and my palm battery will not charge and stil working on it. Try line 1 first
2nd option remove the battery and try without it. Then put the battery back in.

I'm in the process of changing from SJ22 to Smartphone running Windows Mobile 6.1 and I have found a way round this by sending data as vcard to myself in outlook then opening the attachment and saving and closing - this is then sent to your device on the next sync. It is a bit long winded but it works.

Open Outlook and leave it open.
In Palm, select the address you want to send, then in EDIT menu choose Forward as vcard, send and close the outlook pop up, saving changes.
Go to Outlook Inbox and open the attachment then save and close.

Doe's some one out there have the software that came with the sony clie peg sj22/u
software version 1.1

I found there is an online tutorial which said to hold down the power button for a few seconds and the light comes back on.
