I don't know how much gear oil nor what type of gear oil. But most likely anywhere you can get a-hold of gear oil... use what you can get. I would try restaurant supplies. In my city there is a place called Case & Drum that sells anything from the petroleum industry.

Check your brushes on the motor, if they are good then its the windings that are burning out.
