Computer does not load in safe mode, start windows normally or any other mode?
Hi thereInstructions
Remove all CDs or DVDs from the ROM drives, if there are any.
Restart your computer if it is on. If it is not on, turn it on and press the "F8" button repeatedly before the Windows Logo appears until you get to the "Windows Advanced Options Menu."
Press the down arrow button on your keyboard and highlight "Safe Mode." Press "Enter."
Type in your administrative password (if you have one) to log on to Windows Safe Mode.

Does the above have a fuse inside the case / AC
yes you will find 2 or 3 fuses inside the power supply, see and smell for some burnt parts, like trancistors it will be 3 or 5 legged device with a metal back.
if some thing is burnt do not replace fuse the power supply needs to replaced.
beware replace fuse only if no parts are burnt, do not test in open state to avoid electrical shock.

My Sony PCV-W30 power cuts
Firstly let me say that some warrenties will be void if you open the equipment up, so be careful if it is in warrenty then go through them first.
With no beep codes to diagnose from, although it does sound like the power supply personally I'd say everything points to a motherboard issue. But before we go with that as the issue you must ensure its not a memory or hard drive issue.
First you must always make sure its off with the battery out before you touch any components such as memory or hard drives.
Take all the memory out and then try turning it on, if you get beeps now then you know it is recognising memory. If you have more than one stick of memory then try with one then the other and in different slots.
Also try booting without the hard drive in, see what happens then.
Finally if after all this you realise it is a motherboard issue then you'll need specialist help to fix it. Use a company that charges fairly (should be around £55+vat for a simple motherboard issue) and also ensure they operate on a no-fix no-fee and give you 3 months warranty.
If you don't want to carry out these steps then use a reputable technician, like us at MCSLondon:), and they should be able to sort it our for you fairly.

Sony Vaio PCV-W30 uses sis 650_651_740 driver but
Have you tried simply running a windows update to make sure you have the most current drivers available that way? I have found the preloaded driver database is massive, but usually whatever the initial install misses the update picks up. Hope this helps.
Good Luck,

No power - not responding to on button
If there are on LED lights on in the front panel then either the power cord is faulty or the switch mode power supply is faulty.
Try a different power cord to determine if it is faulty.
Can you smell a burnt electrical smell from the fan grill at the switch mode power supply?
The only way to test if the switch mode power supply is to remove it from the desktop computer and take it to your friendly computer shop to get it tested.
If you do have electronic knowledge I would advise you not to attempt to test and try to repair this power supply.
If the switch mode power supply is faulty, then replace the switch mode power supply with another unit with the same or more wattage.
