MONITOR BLACK PC BEEPS AND BEEPS CONTINUOSLY

Beep codes are used by the BIOS during the POST to report certain initial system errors. If you're hearing beep codes after you turn your computer on, it typically means that the system has encountered some kind of problem. depending on the type of beep your motherboard makes you can get to know what your problem is. below are beep code links for various BIOS manufacturers. check yours. http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fixtheproblem/tp/ami-beep-codes.htm http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fixtheproblem/tp/award-beep-codes.htm http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fixtheproblem/tp/phoenix-beep-codes.htm Most likely you have a faulty ram, try to use a friends ram to see if that works. make sure that your friends ram is compatible with your computer.

thermal greaseTest your PSU or replace it if your power supply units fan is not working your PSU is faulty Test all power and data leads that attach to your hard drive IDE,SATA

the leads from your MOTHERBOARD TO YOUR HARD DRIVE make sure they have a secure dust free connections and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electrical extensions or just replace them they could be faulty a computer needs its connections to continue its cycle and have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error even something as small as a faulty electrical extension or fan lead can cause you problems

computers need power and data travel through every working device and to have an end to be able work properly

make sure ram modules and cmos batteries have dust free secure seatings and cmos battery has charge some motherboards cmos batteries are soldered in

motherboard and a hard drive any leads between them will fail before your motherboard or your hard drive if its a flat ribbon 40 pin type IDE replace it this will be the first to fail

check all power and data leads make sure they have secure dust free connections

cd/dvd floppy drives need to have current go through make sure these drives are working

check you CPU make sure its securely seated and has thermal grease hope this helps

Front panel header pin

Don't quote me on this pinout ladydj11, but I believe this is correct;

The Front panel header is located parallel to the Bottom Right edge of the motherboard.
(Motherboard orientation; Processor to the top, Ram Memory slots to the right, PCI slots to the bottom)

There are two rows of 10 pins laid out horizontally. (20 pins total)

I will number the pins for easier orientation.

Starting from the Left side of the motherboard going towards the Right, across the Top;

Pins 1, 3, 5,. 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, 17, and 19.

Starting from the Left side of the motherboard going towards the Right, across the Bottom;

Pins 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, and 20.

A) Pins 1 and 5 are for the Power On LED light.
(Pins 1, 3, and 5 would be used for a dual color Power On LED light. Pins 1 and 3 are for the Positive { + } wire)

B) Pins 7 and 9 are for a Keyboard Lock. Believe the pins are left unconnected for an unlock status.

[ May be the other way around. The two pins may be have to be connected, in order to complete a circuit which allows power to go through the Keylock switch, when it is in the locked position ]

C) Pins 13, 15, 17, and 19 are for an internal speaker. Used for BIOS Beep Codes.

D) Pins 12 and 14 are for the Power On switch

E) Pins 16 and 18 are for a Reset switch, IF used.

How do i remove the back to clean the fan

You will probably not be able to remove the back. But you can remove one of the sides. Looks for knobs or screws on the side of the panel thats removable. Once the screws are removed or loosened, pull back on the panel, it should slide off. Then you can access all the internal parts. Be careful some of the electronics are sensitive. Since you have the PC opened you might as well clean the whole inside.

Some sort of Air Duster works well.

Want to add memory card to sony pcv-v1/g

Easy! Tip the screen forward and you'll see a Phillips screw towards the top of each end of the lump that sits at the base of the back of the screen. Undo both of these THEN the 2 tabs you refer to can be pushed in the direction of the arrows and the whole top of 'the lump' then comes off. The memory is under the silver colored cover held down by 2 pieces of sticky tape(!). Remove tape. Remove cover. 2 slots are exposed. One has 512 in it. Put 512 in the other one! Easy!

Usually there is a switch on the back of the power supply that turns the supply on or off. Make sure it is turned on. Try using a different 3-prong cord between computer and outlet.

Sony PCV-A11 desktop won't boot up to windows. I

Use your installation CD for Windows that came with your computer, and boot to the CD. (Usually, pressing the F12 key will offer your boot options such as "Boot to CD.")

Once booted on to the CD, it will offer you several options - Do NOT reinstall Windows - you want to choose the Repair Option.

When the repair stuff has loaded (You may have to select which volume you wish to work on, if so just pick the number that is next to your C drive.) and you are at the prompt that looks like "C:>" you will want to type in the following, without the quotation marks.

"chkdsk c: /r"

It will take a while for it to work all its magic, but that should fix your problem!

When it is finished, you can simply push the power button on your computer to turn it off.
When you next turn it on, it should be happier.

According to the user guide you should have access to recovery utilities by hitting the F10 key during boot. From what I read that section of the bios also allows you to do data backup and recovery (may require the Sony Recovery Discs).

Just in case you need it - here is a link which will allow you to contact Sony for recovery discs for your machine.
