Sharp 1641cs - Dark/black page after replacing drum & toner

Hi you have not said the toner type you replaced with though that will give not completely black copy. The problem may have been the drum unit installation. Make sure the charge unit over the drum service is present ie the one with a mesh wire like grid. If present, clean it or wipe with a soft clean and dry cloth. Clean the saw-tooth like metal plate inside that unit by slow blowing and make sure no toner particles are there. Finally screw the unit properly on the drum unit and your problem is solved.

The printer is making a banging sound and won't print

It sounds like the timing is out, or one component on your optical section has gone out of its timing sequence. However i have had some units on the main drive section that has given the same symptoms. Its best to inspect all drive gears at the same time

Is there a driver for mac for the sharp al-1642cs? Or something close that can get it working.

Sorry, but it appears that your printer is a Window-only supported machine & cannot be used with a Mac.

Flashing H 3

To reset the H3 condition on just about any Sharp AL series copier press the following key's in sequence and as quickly as possible (with 4 seconds for the first 4 keys)
Press "C" then the far left key (exposure mode) then the "C" key then the far left again.
So in other words C, far left, C, far left
If done correctly the display should go blank.
Now key in 14 as if you were going to make 14 copies.
Now press the print button.
The machine should reset and the code should be gone.
9 times out of 10 this is a false code that pops up due to power surges or noise.
If the code comes back this means you have a heater lamp or thermal fuse (more common) failure in the fusing area and will need service. Good Luck and Thank You for using Fixya. Please provide positive feedback for your free solution.

I have a Sharp AL-1641

Could the Sharp AL-1641 CS laser copier making the loud noise problem you have perhaps be a case of a sticking scan head transport, or other moving part? (you do seem to have replaced most of the other moving parts.)

May I suggest a blast of compressed air and conservative use of the appropriate lubricant on anything that slides or moves during the warm-up sequence?

I hope that helps.

I had a paper jam.I cleared the jam. the misfed

There is no reset button or switch. The reset is performed by opening and closing the right side door. Make sure there is not a sheet of paper just starting out of the tray. Also check the fuser gate. Sometimes these break. The rear side of the gate has a small tab that blocks a sensor. If the gate is out of position it will show a jam all the time. Just make sure the rear side tab is "in" the sensor housing. The gate looks like this:

afa6551.jpg In this picture the "sensor" tab is at the far end of the picture.
Good Luck and Thank You for using Fixya.

Sharp AL-1641CS printer/copier

Most likely you had a toner cartridge failuer leaving some of the ink and developer in the crevices above the paper feeder and its just trickling onto the paper.
It pretty much needs to have the cartrides taken out and thouroghly vaccumed.
Just takes patience and time to get it all removed.
Dont vacuum the cartridges, but the inside of the machine.
Pull your paper tray out and see if there is toner and developer trickling into it.

No Copies

It could possibly be your main charge assembly. If there is no charge on your drum, it can lead to blank copies.

It could possibly be your drum or PCU assembly needs replaced. If you have your owners/users manual, it should give a definition as to what the symbol is.

Papaerjam lite stays on, no paper jam

It is possible that there may still be a small piece of paper blocking or lodged in the exit sensor area. It is also possible that when removing the jammed paper that the sensor arm became dislodged and thus creating a false jam code.

NOT PRINTING

There's a problem with the scanner. The L should be followed by a number. If it's L1, then the scanner is locked in place and you need to slide the latch over to unlock it. If it's L3, then the unit needs to be serviced by a Sharp repair technician. Let me know which it was and what happens!
