In most cases will only see the RAM that is available AFTER the windows allocation size. If windows allocate 1 GB to itself for its processes etc. You will only see 3 GB available for viewing.

Why do you want a new MB?
If you know the actual size or type of MB, I would suggest that you go to Newegg.com.
If I knew what you want the computer for, that will make a difference. You do need a MB that supports at least 2Gigs of RAM / memory. Most MB's now are PCI-e. You will have to buy parts like a vid card that is PCI-e built.
AMD is a rock solid processor. You can get a MB with the processor and fan alrady on it very reasonable.

How many beeps did you hear? It matters. Every Bios has a name. (Award, AMI, Phoenix, IBM ect).
You'll need to enter your bios & check the name. It will be at the top of the menue or you can catch it just as your PC starts up.

Once you know the name of your bios & how many beeps you hear, Ex: 1 long 2 short & repeating. You'll know just what the problem is with regaurds to the memory.
I'll post a link for bios beep codes. All you'll need is the name.

Regardless of the error, it's suggested you remove your memory & than re-seat it. You will not get video display if your memory has a problem.

have you go intouch with the people who sold you the desktop pc if they could send you a recovery cd with everything on it if they won't then the best thing is to get a new copy of windows and download all drivers for unit and doit that way this is the only way I can think of or take in to a computer repair shop and tell them what you need and they will do this for you at a price. hope you can get it sorted

The only thing i can think of is the 'e' refers definately to Empowering by Acer. It sounds as if there is a programme that has either encrypted or locked the drive to all users, so you will have to look in the Empowering technology menus for something similair. You may have to restore your system to before this happened, and if that doesn't work, you may have to get in touch with acer. There should be something in the programme that has turned it on so it must go off. You can try putting your drive on a different ide connector from the motherboard, as your pc will think it's a different drive.

There is an option in your router to disable that option. You have to get into the settings for the router you have. Typically you can open up a web browser and type 192.168.2.1 and it should give you a log in window. If you have not set an admin password for the router just leave it blank and hit ok. Look on the left column to find "guest access". Click on that and you will see the option to click disable. Hope this helps
