Hi, This is an ol Acer travelmate 290. It quite suddenly starts skipping back at random while typing text ( like now !) to re position the cursor back a few lines ( so i find myself typing in the middle of stuff i've already typed!). Its irritating to say the least. A solution will be appreciated. Thanks.
My experience: cursor suddenly moving backward when i was typing, or moving somewhere else on the page. I would be typing and text suddenly would get highlighted. I followed someone's advice to disable the touch pad. Since I do have a mouse & key pad that was all i had to do.

Yep, it was that simple. At first I made sure i typed without my fingers or palms touching or near the touchpad. I noticed it seemed to stop or happen less. Soon as I disabled the touch pad all is back to normal. Yet I spent hrs trying to find out how and there were all these posts by people suggesting downloads and other more complicated things etc..

Anything in French on my keyboard is in green but I cannot figure out how to access the green keys.
Finally I figured it out. Hold the shift control function keys at the same time. This will turn the green key function on and off.

I have an Acer Aspire 5720 and I constantly seem to have the cursor move while I am typing - I am suddenly typing in a place I don't want to be. I think the laptop keyboard is at fault, as I can type much better with a regular keyboard hooked into the laptop
The touch freeze fix from microsft seemed to work for my cursor jumping issues. Thanks for the link for this fix. Makes typing on this laptop easy and enjoyable again.

the keyboard on TravelMate 2310 is stuck in upper case and will not type lower case.
My portable keyboard plugged into this laptop types properly.

Is the caps lock light illuminated? If so, you might have to hold shift and hit caps lock to turn off the caps lock. This is an option for old typists who came from manual typewriters that you might have turned on by mistake.

my daughter keeps pressing the snooze button on the top right hand corner of my Acer keyboard, it's a little button marked Zz. What do I do to get my computer out of this "sleep mode"?
To disable the sleep button on the acer keyboard Do the following (Vista home)
Go to control panel (classic view) double click Power options.
left hand margin select Choose what the power buttons do.
This opens a systems settings page
You will see an option :
When I press the sleep button: (Don't worry that the picture of the button is different than the keyboard's Zz)
Select Do Nothing from the dropdown box.
Click the Save changes button at the bottom of the screen.
This will disable the button on the keyboard...

My laptop has green symbols as well as the regular symbol. Sometimes it will convert to using those green symbols and I cannot change it back, how do I change it back to the regular keys?
Press the Symbol key on the keyboard. It works just like the Num LK key.

what does the key with the letters PrtSc SysRq on an acer aspire do (whats its function)
if you hit just the prtsc sysrq button and open up a blank paint document, you can paste an entire screenshot into a picture document. if you hit control alt prtsc (It's short for print screen) you can take a screenshot of just the current window.

I enabled my green keys on the Acer Aspire one and cannot get it back to the regular keyboard please help!
Somehow I enabled the GREEN keys on my Acer laptop and cannot get it to go back to normal so now the 2 is ".....HOW DO I GET RIDE OF THIS

On my acer aspire 5551 it works if you press the ALT Car Button on the right site and the green key
