Check that the hose connection is secure and that there aren't any kinks or blockage in the hose. The hose should always slope downward not go vertical or in an upward direction. If the hose is clean and water flows out freely, check the placement of the unit. The unit not being level could be another factor as to why it's collecting water in the bucket and not out of the drain hose. Make sure that the unit is level. If there is a slight slope to the floor, adjust the unit so that the hose is closest to the drain. In units that were stored for the winter, for an extended period of time or in a highly dusty area, there may be grime build up in the main water outlet that connects to the drain accessories. Use a pipe cleaner to help clear the buildup by inserting the pipe cleaner in the main water outlet.

A dehumidifier is the same thing as a window unit air conditioner that you sit on your kitchen floor instead of installing it into a window. It will blow cold air out one side (evaporator side) and hot air out the other. (condenser side) Hot/Cold cancelling each other out, (plus a little bit of "extra" heat from running the thing) yet the evaporator STILL removes humidity from the air in the form of a puddle of water on your kitchen floor. They (air conditioners & dehumidifiers) are both essentially air conditioners only difference being is that in order to "cool" an area, the "condenser," or "hot" air would have to be moved outside somehow. Question edited to add Dehumidifier details.No spares available. You can seal the threads with PTFE tape which make the threads thicker, or try and fix with epoxy resin. There are 6 rubber plugs in the top covering screws , 2 are all at hidden under the handle ends , the handle can be lifted to about 45 degrees and teased out an end at a time to gain access, the top then removes giving access to more screws which when removed along with screws under the bottom and inside the tank compartment allow the front and back to be removed for access

cont button just means continuous run mode . the power light is lit , the full light is out . try reseating the water catch bucket a few times , most machines have a safety that wont allow the thing to operate if bucket isn't just perfect in its slot (you don't want water on your floor )

Just fixed this problem with my DES14. Its a fault with the circuit board inside the machine and is very easy to fix, even for a novice. Here is how to do it: 1) Open up the machine by removing the screws in the case. (Make sure it is unplugged!) 2) Locate the circuit board on the side of the unit. 3) At this point you have two options. If you want a unit with full functionality you need to buy a replacement circuit board. I found one on MasterSpares (http://www.mastersparesonline.com/product/index/10147) It costs about 30 pounds. Simply remove the old board and replace it. 4) If you want a working unit for no extra cost (but without the functionality of the humidistat) then remove the rectangular white connector from the circuit board which has red,blue,white and yellow wires entering it. Add an extra wire between the central white wire and the red wire that is adjacent to the yellow. (see photo). 5) Re-assemble the unit. If you have opted for the free option the unit will work when you plug it in and switch it on but will no longer cut in and out with different humidities (or have the annoying warm up period). Thankfully the water overflow cut-out will still work. Hope it works for you! Feel free to ask if you are confused!
