sounds like the bearings are going this will cause a noise as the drum is not alined prpoperly.

take off back plate to washer, wrap belt round motor and spider (6 legged wheel above the motor) and turn the spider thats it

if you can get the front plate off you will probably notice that the drum stabilizer roller has either fallen off or is damaged. This part is replaceable and should be no more than 20 bucks.

the water should only be filling up to approc 2in above the drum bottom...........look inside when its filling..........if its filling to nearly the bottom of the door you either have a faulty pressure switch or grit/dirt in the internal filter.......as a result the machine will not spin if there is too much weight in the drum

unfortunately that sounds like your timer is faulty.......in Ireland a timer is now costing approx €100-€150 euro so its not worth replacing outside of warranty

No I think not , it is really a job for an experienced engineer , but how do you know the bearings need changing?

At the bottom on eacvh side there is a small round plastic plug which is hiding the other screws.

From what you say,I would be looking for a fault on the programmer, sounds like you are not getting a neutral feed.
By shorting out the lock you have created a circuit through live and common, causing the m/c to operate.
Check carbons in motor.

Check the water level pressure chamber for a partial blockage, this can cause all sorts of problems.

is it draining ok or does it m ake any noises as if trying to spin?

the belt is a tight fit so you need some strength
remove top. loop belt over the motor pulley and start belt onto drum pulley. turn drum pulley and belt will work its way on. there is just enough room to do this

Put off the machine. After 3 or 4 minutes put the control to "spin only" & put the machine on. If this does not work you hv a drain problem which shd be checked......

It is'nt any adjustment on those machines. They were fitted with eleastic belts. Is the belt not tight enough, you need a new belt.

If it is draining, then the motor is ok.
If it is agitating properly, then the motor coupler is ok.
This leaves the gearcase, clutch, basketdrive(brake), basket drive block, or timer.

Raise the lid and hold the lid switch down. Start a rinse cycle and let it go through the cycle. It should drain the water, then stop the motor for a split second then kick the motor back in and start spinning. If it doesn't drop out that split second then the timer is holding it in neutral drain. You can recreate this by letting it start draining, then let off the lid switch, then depressing it again. The basket should start spinning. If not,

Raise the lid and hold the lid switch closed. Start it in spin and see if you can get it started spinning by hand. If so you probably have a slipping clutch.

indicated low water pressure from your external supply or blocked filters in the fill hose. turn water off, remove hose and check filter in end of hose - it is just a bit of gauze. also look into the valve and clean out if needed
