Hello Rhonda Killalea,
On MOST furnaces built since 1960. there is provision
for the BLOWER on the old type THERMOSTATS.
BLOWER SWITCH ... has two positions
"ON" and "
AUTO"...
(turn blower from
on to "OFF" (or correct wiring)).
"
AUTO" is the POSITION your thermostat NEEDS
to be on...
Only then will your heater's blower be under
control of those internal temperature controls.
I am including a SAMPLE page from the OWNER's
MANUAL... (a wild guess of which "EVCON" model
you might have)...
Without YOUR MODEL NUMBER... your answers
are going to be completely generic (pretty useless).
You will also need to disclose what
model
THERMOSTAT you are using... while you are
LOOKING...
Try to note the FUEL you are using, HEATING
or HEATING-and-COOLING...
ELSE... my only suggestion would be to look
at the WIRES... note their color and CREATE
a TRUTH TABLE between the "
typical"
R,G,Y,&
B
wires ( telephone wires ) and the ACTUAL
SCREW-TERMINAL designations...
Black, Brown, Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue,
Purple, Gray & White... industry colors for
the
possible TERMINAL designations... (and more)
THEN...
Go to the HEATER (air-handler or compressor)
terminal block and VERIFY .... The OLD FASHION
Red, White, Black and Green have a TERMINAL
MATCH from the
thermostat to the
HEATER.
Hope this helps...
