You don't you, replace joystick. However, should you take the joystick apart you may have many hours of intense frustration awaiting you.

You would need to remove both covers top and bottom of the console holding the throttle pot. Typically, there are 4 or six screws holding the covers. The throttle pot is attached with 2 screws and has 1 electrical plug. The throttle lever on the end of the throttle pot shaft usually is held on with 2 Allen wrench set screws.
Before replacing the part it can be tested using a digital voltmeter.(procedure is described elsewhere).
Obtain the correct replacement part by searching by Model and serial number and part description. The manufacturer website is a good starting point for parts

Joystick code 8 == Controller error

Three red LEDs
Four yellow LEDs
One green LED.

hi, okay mainly one of two reasons , the wigwag is worn reverse side of the pot or the controller has a fault, now the wig wag, when going into reverse try gently pushing the lever up and then down while holding it in reverse , be careful the scooter could jolt back, so turn the speed down. if the scooter does in fact response to that then a new throttle pot is required. I do controller testing for free , you only pay the return postage.. Regards
