Honda outboard Questions & Answers
My Honda 9.9 4 stroke outboard will idle ok but will not throttle up?
Hello, everyone.
The engine is generally healthy and what bugs me the most, has JUST been overhauled by a good mechanic, which included cleaning the carb, after which it started on 1-3 pulls and ran like magic.
Today I went fishing for the first time after not using the boat for about 3 weeks. The engine started fine (with 2/3 choke), I let it warm up a bit, with little-to-none choke. Idle was a tiny bit rough, but nothing major. When I set it on idle for the first time, it ran for about 3 minutes and died. Since then I could only start it with either choke or some throttle and it'd always die quite soon on idle or close to idle. When I try to start it warm with no choke, it'd sound as if it catches and dies off immediately.
The plugs are 1 month old and adjusted, oil's in order, no detectable problems with the prop or anything else.
I have a suspicion it might be either condensate or some grit in the fuel tank, which was stored in a rather damp place for 3 weeks, half full (although tightly closed). What should I check and is there a way to condition the fuel somehow to remove condensate and clean out eventual b/s from the carb without major mechanical work (I really don't want to pull the boat ashore before autumn)?
Thank you!

My honda 2hp 4 stroke does not idle how can I fix this
The carburator needs to be cleaned, the idle jet is the first one that stops up. Make sure that the oil is up to the level and fresh and make sure that you have a clean tank with fresh fuel. You could do a Californian carb clean: rev it up and put your hand over the intake to create a vacuum till it almost stops and do that a couple of times, the jet could clear up in mild cases.
How do I fix a 2006 Honda outboard motor with no spark at the plugs?
Hi there. The tips are generic and may or may not apply! 1)Does it have points with capacitor? It can be burnt or dirty.2) Check the cable feeding the sparkplug loose or cracked? 3) Remove the wires to your kill switch at the engine and try to start if it starts then with your ohm meter check switch working and wires for breaks or short circuits

Type Honda, the model number of your motor, customer service into your computer search engine. It will being up Honda customer service web sites you can contact and ask for info.
Honda outboard fills base with gas. What wrong?
i would look for a leak in a fuel line or connection or a needle that is stuck open flooding that carb which will sometimes run out of the front of the carb and into the base of the cover. when the air intake cover is on you cant see this happen.
How to remove tank on a honda eg5000cl generator
This is reasonably easy to do. Does the Generator run? Start the generator as it's running turn the fuel Petcock to the Off position. The generator should stall and stop running. This helps safely empty the fuel line and carburettor between the tank and the engine.
Disconnect the fuel line from the petcock tap and plug the ends to stop dirt getting in. On each corner of the tank itself there should be a bolt going through the ribbed edge and a rubber spacer. remove these 4 bolts and the tank should lift up and out. On some generators you might have to remove some trim panels to make it easier.
Refitting is the exact opposite of this.
Honda EX5500 power output
It sounds like you are experiencing an issue with your ex5500 generator where the voltage and frequency are not within the correct range when the generator is running. Here are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot the issue:
- Check the load: Make sure that the load you are running on the generator is within its capacity. If the load is too high, it can cause the generator to run at a lower frequency and higher voltage.
- Check the fuel level: Make sure the fuel tank is full and that the fuel is fresh. If the fuel is stale or contaminated, it can cause the generator to run poorly.
- Check the spark plug: The spark plug is responsible for igniting the fuel in the engine. If the spark plug is dirty or worn out, it can cause the generator to run poorly. Clean or replace the spark plug as needed.
- Check the air filter: The air filter is responsible for cleaning the air that is drawn into the engine. If the air filter is dirty or clogged, it can restrict the flow of air to the engine and cause it to run poorly. Clean or replace the air filter as needed.
If none of these steps help resolve the issue, it may be necessary to have the generator checked by a professional. They can diagnose and repair any underlying issues that may be causing the generator to run poorly.
Honda em5000sx generator runs too fast
it's possible that u may have a worn washer underneath the governor gear it's internal this washer wears due to lack of oil change 4800 is way too high for that engine to operate 38oo max parts are inexpensive although doing the job to repair it is another it's behind the front cover of engine you need washer slider and governor gear totl cost of parts under 30.00.
Why won't my portable generator start?
Hi,
if it was a copy-cat item, it might have been built with cheap parts. Please purchase the real item and you should not have these problems. I would also advise against trying to change a generator's parts because if you mess up, you could accidentally spray carbon-monoxide into your environment which can be deadly.
Thank you.
Honda generator eu6500is overload
if you mean the gas engine starts and then dies, its not getting fuel fast enough, a screen or filter,
if its the type you start then engage the generator and it dies, not sure,,
also a lot them have an oil sensor,, the older ones went bad a lot..., the all go bad eventually, most of the time you can unplug them and it will run fine,,, the wire that is connected near the bottom of the crankcase and usually has a plastic plug within a couple inches, just unplug it and see if that fixes it.... those new sensors shouldn't be very expensive.
those are the two top issues....plugged up fuel supply in the carb or the screen in the tank or a filter in between,, or the oil sensor is bad...
the sensor idea is because you're inside the house and the generator is outside so you wont notice if it runs low on oil and the sensor will shut it off to save it from damage...
