it's possible that u may have a worn washer underneath the governor gear it's internal this washer wears due to lack of oil change 4800 is way too high for that engine to operate 38oo max parts are inexpensive although doing the job to repair it is another it's behind the front cover of engine you need washer slider and governor gear totl cost of parts under 30.00.

if you mean the gas engine starts and then dies, its not getting fuel fast enough, a screen or filter, if its the type you start then engage the generator and it dies, not sure,, also a lot them have an oil sensor,, the older ones went bad a lot..., the all go bad eventually, most of the time you can unplug them and it will run fine,,, the wire that is connected near the bottom of the crankcase and usually has a plastic plug within a couple inches, just unplug it and see if that fixes it.... those new sensors shouldn't be very expensive. those are the two top issues....plugged up fuel supply in the carb or the screen in the tank or a filter in between,, or the oil sensor is bad... the sensor idea is because you're inside the house and the generator is outside so you wont notice if it runs low on oil and the sensor will shut it off to save it from damage...

Removing the carburetor and disassembling so you can clean the metering passages is going to be the best solution. There are generaly two circuits on the carb. a high speed circuit and low speed circuit. Make sure all metering passages are clean for the carb. to work efficiently. Also make sure you fuel switch is "ON".

Disconnect all loads before turning on breaker. Add one load at a time. Do not exceed generator capacity.

The error code is for incorrect air/fuel ratio. The first thing to try and most common cause is a bad fuel filter. Try replacing the fuel filter. It is possible that the 2 cycle mix, since it contains oil, had gummed up the filter. I would also run some carburetor cleaner through it.
