how do I get one to replace the one that is full how do I replace it?
You dont replace it, you wash it and reinstall it in the printer. Use hot water for washing it.
resetting the waste-ink full code:
1 - press resume button and then press power button
2 - realese the resume button and press 2 more times then realese both
3 - press and release resume 4 times and power 2 times...
The way it works is to PRESS the ON/OFF button plus the RESUME button at the same time, keep your fingers on both bottons all the time THEN let go of the resume button and press it 2 times and only then let go of the OFF/ON button (which you have been helding down while pressing the resume button 2 times). Then INDIVIDUALLY, first press and release the resume button 4 times and the power button 2 times after this. Works like a charm !

I saw other post about how to reset machine after cleaning the waste ink absorber, but I can't find where it is to wash and replace - thanks!
I found it under my ink cartridges in my Canon iP2000 printer. Trying to losten it for cleaning, it came out in my hand, I washed it and replaced it with a tiny amount of glue. After resetting the program, it is working again.

Canon IP 2000 / reset
1. Turn off printer
2. Hold down Resume button and press Power button.
3. Keep holding down Power button and let Resume button go.
4. Press Resume button 2 times then let BOTH buttons go.
5. Green lights will flash and then stop blinking.
6. When green lights are solid, press the Resume button 4 times.
7. Press the Power button and the printer should turn off, if not,
press the Power button once more.
8. Your printer should respond as normal..

Hello:
My Canon Pixma iP2000 suddenly went weird. Power light blinks yellow 5 times then turns green.
And won't print.
Used reset shown at:
http://www.fixya.com/support/t950159-canon_pixma_ip2000_service_manual
No luck.
Reinstalled driver, USB cable, changed USB port. System settings OK (WinXP).
Any thoughts?

Driver could be corrupt.
Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off.
I'd do both and reinstall the CD software program that came with
the printer. When the software program asks you to connect the
printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.
Hope this helps. Bud

When I try to print, I am being told that the waste ink absorber is almost full. If I press the resume button, the printer will print. How can I fix this so that it is not full?
This is quoted from cannons website about your issue.
"This printer has an ink absorber that takes in ink during the printing and print head cleaning processes. The cleaning process is necessary in order to keep the print head nozzles from becoming clogged. Over the life of the printer, the amount of ink that the ink absorber has absorbed is calculated by the printer. Eventually, after substantial use, the printer will enter an error condition when the ink absorber is nearly full. At this point, printing is still possible by pressing the <Resume> button on the printer. To protect the printer from damage, you will not be able to print at all once the ink absorber is full.
Canon recommends having the printer serviced before the absorber becomes full. We are aware that there are many "do-it-yourself" Web sites that offer instructions for making this repair. Replacing the ink absorber is a complicated and potentially messy procedure. Even if the ink absorber is successfully changed, the ink absorber counter must be reset. Be aware that if you attempt this procedure, it is at your own risk."

So what they are saying more or less is throw out the printer because it's going to cost more to replace the absorber than to just buy a new printer.
If you ak me it's just another way these printer companies screw customers. Just my opinion.
Sorry about the bad news but at least you have your answer.

The ink absorber is full on my Canon IP2000 ink jet printer. How do I empty it please?
The waste ink absorbers are a pair of pads on the sides of the carriage near the bottom of the printer. You need to open up the printer (pop the top off). It is just clipped into place and held by its own pressure (you can usually see how it's held in). Unscrew (if needed) the ink carriage (leave the cartridges in place) and push it out of your way.
Wear gloves and have plenty of newspaper or something handy. Pull the pads out and rinse them clean (running water works well). Blot dry or let them dry in the sun. Use a hair dryer to get the last bit of moisture out if you are in a hurry. Then reassemble the unit. Then reset the counter for the waste ink tank.
To reset the counter:
1 - press resume button and then press power button
2 - realese the
resume button and press 2 more times then realese both
3 - press and
release resume 4 times and power 2 times...
I hope this helps.

(under normal use, the waste ink absorber is supposed to register a full counter at the expected end-of-life of the printer. Additional failures may happen soon.)
