I get Service error 5C00 for my Cannon i80

Canon USA has a down loadable file for the manual.

Here is the link.

Here is what is being said of this error on the forums:

Fixing this error is much easier as it looks. Unplug the printer completely. Move the ink cartridge cradle gently to the left. Over to the right at it's usual resting place you will see a small pad about 1cm square. This pad and the area around should be covered with ink. Get a microfibre cloth and press down on this pad - it's not fixed so should come away with the cloth, otherwise use tweezers gently. Squeeze the pad several times between your thumb and forefinger while inside the microfibre cloth to remove ink build up. Then when not much ink comes out on the cloth, clean the area in the printer around the pad so that looks free from ink too. Then position the pad back in place, move the cradle back into position, plug in and switch on - should work fine now. But it's worth checking for any paper caught near the ink pad

Pages cannot be print

1. Clean your print head using denatured alcohol solvent which can be purchased from most hardware stores. If unavailable, use 91% Alcohol (isopropyl alcohol (first aid antiseptic) which is available for less than a dollar at most Walmart pharmacy departments.

*Warning: You may want to use a pair of latex exam gloves as this is a messy process and can stain your fingers.
Time necessary 45-50 minutes
Supplies needed:
Isopropyl Alcohol or denatured alcohol
paper towels
latex gloves
sink, bowls and or basin
can of compressed air
very small screw driver
tablespoon or baby bulb type syringe
warm water

PROCEDURE:
1. Lift print head from printer. It pulls out easily because it is held in with the same down lever that holds the cartridge in place.
2. Put two layers of paper towels in the bottom of a dish to protect sensitive sprayer heads.
3. Put enough solvent in dish to cover the screens on which the cartridges sit when in use.
4. Take the two small screws out that hold the white ceramic piece
5. Gently, pry the ceramic piece back and away , to reveal the underside (No need to pull away the glued points on the sides.)
6. Gently, move head up and down to slosh solvent around it the best as you can. Use a table spoon or syringe to pour solvent over all orifices in the print head, turning it upside down and then back a few times.
7. Use canned air with a plastic straw to blow into and through all orifices, alternately sloshing/swishing and pouring solvent over head (be careful not to touch any of the holes, screens, or sprayer heads with anything)
8. Empty dirty solvent from bowl and replace with paper towels and clean solvent. Soak for approx 10 minutes. Rinse again with clean solvent poured directly on all parts, letting solvent overrun and fall into dish or basin.
9. Gently shake the solvent off the head, take it outside and spray with compressed air into all orifices to clear out and help evaporate any remaining solvent. Let sit on a clean paper towel for approx 20 minutes. (There may be a little ink bleeding out of the head, but once it dries completely it does not present any problems.
10. Reinstall head, cartridges and it will print like a new printer.

SUGGESTION: For many years of problem free printing, keep a double set of ink cartridges, one set full at all times. Whenever a cartridge runs out of ink, replace it IMMEDIATELY, with a new one or a refilled one. This gives the print head no chance to dry out and create clogged heads. Routine maintenance of cleaning the heads every 24 months does wonders for keeping your printer in new condition

Hi i can not seem

Hello,

Is the driver you installed compatible with Mac OS?
If yes, an error might have occurred during the installation process, i would therefore recommend that you uninstall the driver, then install it again (re installation).
It would also help to download a new copy of the driver, to make sure the driver itself has no errors.

During installation, your printer should be connected, to allow the device to be detected by your computer.
After installation, restart your computer to make changes take effect.
You should also restart the printer.

Thank you for using Fixya,
Kenneth.

Need to replace Waste Ink Absorber on a Canon i80

The absorber on this model runs across the back and looks almost like a C cell flashlight. It's called the drain pack assembly, #QL2-0194-000. It's tough to change and after you need to access the service mode to reset the counter.

My i80 canon printer not printing in black ink

I think you have to check the settings on your printer, maybe it is set to print color alone, so you need to change it to print both black and color.

you can equally remove the black cartridge ink and clean the surface, maybe it is stock with dirt,

I wish you best of luck

My canon i80 printer will not work. I get an

This sounds like the nozzles and the electronic chip on the cartridge are being clogged by the ink. if you are using aftermarket or refilled cartridges, the chances are that the ink does not meet the manufacturer's specifications.
To clear the problem, insert a new OEM cartridge and run the deep cleaning utility at least 3 times (more may be required depending upon how clogged the nozzles are) and run the alignment.
If you wnat to continue to use aftermarket cartridges, try the ones from ldproducts.com, They have performed well for me for the past 2 years on a variety of Canon inkjet printers both MP and MX.

The waste ink absorber is

These are messy and extremely impossible to clean, if you spill ink while doing so you can damage the printer and have to throw it away anyway. So I would replace it, but if you really want to try and clean it out I can walk you through the steps. Keep in mind though that it was not designed to be cleaned. I don;t know what your time is worth per/hour, but you will most assuredly spend more time then the cost of a new printer.

My Canon i80 is having trouble feeding paper...it

Hi,
Maybe a printer buffer memory problem, try to turn off for at least 10 minutes the turn on again and try printing. It may also from an installation problem, you may insert the printer cd-rom and repair the installation.
OR
check the print driver in control panel,if the correct driver for the printer is not installed, or corrupted, it can send invalid instructions to the printer
Seems the print head carriage is jamming for some reason, either there is some grit on the carriage bar, or a missing tooth in the drive belt, or the timing strip is dirty the easiest way to fix yourself would be to clean the timing strip. the timing strip is a clear plastic tape usually behind or below the carriage bar. it looks like it has a grey horizontal stripe across it (actually it is many tiny vertical black stripes that provide the printer with motion and dot timing information). carefully with a window cleaner soaked paper towel, and without too much pressure (that would unhook one of the ends of the strip)wipe the strip clean on both front and back.
also if the printer happens to be in an unlocked condition (you can do this by removing power during the head positioning cycle), try moving the printhead at a moderate speed back and forth along the carriage bar and see if there's anywhere where it binds up or you feel more than normal resistance, the printer needs repair, but at least you can tell the technician where to start looking
Thanks for contacting fixya.com
