I got the following message: "The type of print head is not correct. Install the correct print head", but the head is all the time the same.

Assuming you have tried resetting the PC and printer and that the printer isn't in warranty I would suggest some cleaning of the printhead contacts. 1. First of all remove any cartridges from the printhead.2. Lift the release on the right of the printhead, so that it is free to move in its holder.3. You should be able to remove the printhead now, but be careful as you may need a small screwdriver to loosen fitting behind.4. Clean all available contacts on the printhead with a clean piece of non-fibrous tissue.5. Reinstall the printhead carefully.6. Check to see if the printhead is accepted. If this doesn't help it may be that the printhead has developed a genuine fault and will need replacing.

Canon Pixma mp760 - won't power up or initialize

I found this on another forum it'll clear the EEPROM so give it a go.

MP750 / MP780 waste ink counter reset instructions..

1. Service menu: Menu -> Scan -> Copy -> Scan (one at a time in sequence)
2. Select "TEST MODE"
3. Select "[8] ETC.."
4. Select "[4] EEPROM CLEAR"
5. Select "[1] INK COUNT"
6. Press the [OK] button.
7. Press the [Stop/Reset] button (returns you to the TEST MOD sub-menu))
8. press the [ON/OFF] button (which resets the printer)

TIP: Don't rush the printer as it can often take considerable time to respond to your commands. Frantic button pressing will just push the printer into snail mode (ie: slow as heck!).

Patience :)

Hope that helps... :)

Black ink will not print on Pixma mp760

Inkjet printers need to be used frequently to prevent inkdrying out in the print head nozzles. If the print head cleaning maintenance routine does not clear the blockages, then print head needs replacing, but it may be expensive. It may be more cost effective to buy a later model and better printer thanreplace the print head.
