It depends upon the cord you need, as the scanner will have to. If you take it to an office supply, they can hook you up.

" I can only select platen as the sourc. the film setting has vanished" - I had the same problem. Unplugged the USB cable from a shared usb 2.0 hub and plugged into an old USB 1.1 dedicated port and it started working. No ideas why (perhaps in the hub it couldn't detect the scanner model correctly)

the only successful method I found for using CanoScan D1250U2F in 64 bit Windows 7 (I guess the same would be for 64 bit Vista) is to use Windows XP Mode in Virtual PC (attach the scanner as USB device and that's it - works perfectly)

I had a problem with Windows 7 detecting the device as CanoScan (needed for Windows XP Mode to detect is as USB device and allow attach) - the solution was to unplug the scanner, plug it in and CANCEL Windows 7 hardware detection process before it finishes - this leaves it as "CanoScan" device (auto-detect will leave it as "Unrecognized device" and with that unusable/un-attachable in Windows XP Mode)

latest versions of Windows XP Mode will make your hard drives accessible as network locations (no need for external media)

Welcome to Fixya. Unfortunately it is impossible to use the CanoScan D1250U2F to windows 7 because it is not compatible. Canon stated that the scanner is not compatible with the said Operating System. Please check the link below about the Windows 7 Compatibility.

see inside usb port & check all four pins are up or not. if pins down then put it up or replce usb connector.

drivers for canon canoscan D1250U2F......go to ... canon.ca

click on drivers for scanners and pick the model you want them for..
if you are in canada make sure that you click on drivers available in canada..

I have many years experience repairing Canon scanners so here is my suggestion for you.

This is a common problem with all Canon scanners. If you do a lot of scanning or leave your computer on all the time and never shut it off. What is happening is the memory fills up with all of the images and it needs to be cleaned out. If you reboot (restart) your computer it will clean out the memory and your problem will go away. I always recommend that if your going to be scanning a lot then do it off a fresh reboot and you should be able to your hearts content.

You may need to re-install the drivers for the scanner. Even though it is plugged in, if the computer doesn't recognise it then it won't scan. You can get the drivers here.
Just choose your operating system and it will take you to the appropriate drivers. I see there is also toolbox software for this scanner located on the same downloads page.

1. Uninstall all the drivers
2. Power cycle your computer
3. Re-install all the drivers
4. Finally re-connect the scanner

make sure you have an installer compatible for mac os if not you can download on the internet. :)
