You need to go farther than the lens glass. The dust is actually on the photo board itself. I'm assuming that the problem is on the bottom scanning side. You will need to dis assemble the
scanner to remove the scanning unit. This can be done by remove the back, the sides, and the two front pieces. Once inside remove the silver metal cover over the rollers. This will help you get the actually scanning equipment out. Remove the black scanning unit behind the silver metal cover.
Make sure to ground yourself before continuing or you could short the boards.
Under the lens glass there are three boards. Two are visible. One is white, long and skinny. On the backside one is green. The one you need to get to is hidden between the black piece, and silver metal piece. There should be 6 screws that you will need to remove first.
Very gently pry the plastic from the metal. The problem that you are looking for is there.
Wipe the photo cells with an alcohol swab, and you should be good to go.
