My laptop keyboard is playing up after my cat
As far as I can tell, the Presario 2100 dates back to 2003. If that really is true, then you are better off replacing it with something newer, since it isn't worth the money it would cost to even replace the keyboard, let alone any other parts that may be necessary.

You can try to remove the battery first..then put the unit near some sort of heater vent to try to dry it out...who knows you may get lucky...thats if the unit was not on when the water occured

This does seem to be related to a possible heat issue. Older computers that haven't been fully cleaned can reach a level of heating issues. So a cold laptop boot up would not show these problems till the computer had collected enough heat. Cheapest direction to take would be a can of air and make sure to blow out all areas accessible to the blown air.
From the information given - This would be the most logical.

Laptop will not charge and now I can't power it up
If the laptop battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be worn out. Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cycles and will lose their charge capacity over time, until they won't charge up at all.
Check power adapter’s DC plug that connects into the laptop power socket with a multi-meter, the voltage should be slightly higher than the voltage that is printed on the label on the bottom of the adapter. If the voltage is zero or way below the voltage that is printed on the label then the power adapter is faulty and needs to be replaced.
If the adapter is OK then connect it to the laptop and power it up, then look at the power/battery charging LED light and wriggle the power plug in the laptop's power socket. If the power/battery LED light flashes and in a certain position this LED light stays firm, then the power socket is either faulty or it has a dry solder joint where it is connected to the motherboard.
This can be repaired but it requires the laptop to be completely dismantled to get at this power socket and repair. If you cannot DIY then I suggest you get a quote first.

Reinstall drivers. The problem is that for your model it is outdated and unless it got corrupted you won't get any newer. But it may be the speakers that are just wearing out. Don't forget that your laptop is around 5 or 6 years old. If the driver does not help, try to get replacement speakers from a place like ebay. Good luck.
Power shorting out
This is a problem where the dc jack on the motherboard is defective or broken off of the board and it is shorting out.
The jack can be replaced for about $100.00 by a repair shop or you can do it yourself for about $6.00.
The job is fairly involved and you may not want to attempt it. I repaired mine about a year ago.
The new jack needs to be soldered on the board.

Heyy...compaq presario laptop's power cords are generally showing this problem. But its very untrue that replacing or repairing the power jack is a waste. Even i've presario 5200 and it was nicely repaired by serviceman in just $1 ... So don't panic...and try to fiind a nice serviceman who really knows this work... i hope this solution is helpful to you...

1. Remove the battery.
2. Check the power supply connector to make sure that the two prongs at the end are on either side of the pin, as you may not have enough power to fire the machine.
No sound for presario 2100
something like this is a physical issue and would have to be looked at by a qualified tech. they would have to open the notebook and re attach the socket.
