what does RESET mean. tell the helper that first. my guess is you mean BOOT? first take out the relic battery (i bet its old and shorted) does, BIOS work now, hit the BIOS key? yes/no does it boot to the hDD, now? To installed W7, Who's, Microsofts or HPs' latter works other dont. using CD driver to install w7, that it? does the CD boot and run and ask all the normal questions? it takes a good HDD to installed W7. for a fact. I test the PC with a Linux live disk or Windows PE live disk first to see if all is good, then run HDD tests from there. using HDD test software, (free from hundreds of sources) ask then install w7, when sure. battery is out. power pack ok. and HDD ok. only then can it work. (if luckly , )

Check that brightness is not turned right down, you do this using the function keys, Fn and one of the Fkeys the top line of your keyboard. Another thing to check is that external monitor has not been aactivated. This can be corrected by using the function keys as well.

OK, windows vista home edition. So, what about it? It's a terrible product if you ask me.

www.compaq.com and look up the users manual should help you out. don't be afraid to push things you aren't gonna break it the more you play with the pc the better you will become. i also suggest getting a book on how to use laptops maybe that will help too

Click start > select control panel> select hardware and sound> select mouse> your mouse and touchpad software window will open (example: Synaptics is mine) select touchpad tab were you can turn it back on or reset to default as well as adjustments to your devices.

I think you will need to do a system recovery.The symptoms you tell looks like a HDD error because the system does not read the HD.

if there is no light to ur panel the main problem is of ur cable in ur laptop
there are two connetor in compaq one for power on/off switch other for ur touch sensor if its have light now u have to replace ur touch pannel
other wise remove the pannel nd reconnect the cable

Hi. Webcam is automatically turned on by default. You can enable/disable the webcam by pressing the Fn key + Esc key.

Operative system wont boot?

You need to set your bios to your primary boot device is that cd/dvd rom .

You can also do that by pressing F12 on your keyboard and selecting your CD/DVD drive.

if you cannot find the switch have a look at the F keys for a key with the wireless symbol shown in that link and use the FN key + the F key with that symbol
To check that you have a wireless adapter and that it is working OK Press the Windows key (bottom left of the keyboard} and at the same time press the R key, now in the search box that appears - type devmgmt.msc Click on the + sign next to network adapters - you are looking for an item labeled Wireless or 802.11 make sure no yellow ? or ! in device manager anywhere -

Just uninstall the touchpad driver in "Programs and Features" under "Control Panel"

There is no fuse inside.If this is idle for a few years , might be there is some dust in switch so you will have to clean it once and also try with exchanging the power cords.
