Check the rear right hand side of the scanner and make sure the scan head is not in the locked position. This is used to lock the scanner head during transport without damaging the scanning head.

If this is not the case, have you load the driver for the unit and did you check Windows Control Panel - Scanners/Cameras to verify it is there and recognized by the system. If not there you have a communication problem, if it is there, test it from there.

You may have to run this device in Window 98 mode
It may or may not work depending on the driver set and is it compatible with the Windows OS.

Hi,
As I'm sure you have already heard, Vista has been replaced by Windows 7 due to many software incompatability issues. My best advice would be to get rid of Vista and either downgrade to Windows Xp or upgrade to Windows 7 as these two are far more stable and compatible with most software applications.

you should be able to find the drivers here choose your operatng system to download the setup file

Try resetting your scanner, check the manual for the directions.

Go to Control Panel look and see what printer or printers are connected to your PC. Then I would try to reinstall my new printer.

You need the Windows XP driver for The Compaq A-1000 printer. Which is necessary as well as up so 15245 for all printer features.
