Microphone Not Working!
If this is a microphone that connects to the 3.5 mm microphone jack, check that your microphone is connected to the Mic port (pink on the rear of a desktop). Make sure that the plug is fully seated. If you are using a front microphone jack on a desktop, try using the rear port (or vice versa). Next, if you have Windows, check that the audio input is set to Microphone, instead of Line In. (For Windows 7, this would be Start > Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Manage Audio Devices (under Sound) and the recording tab.) Microphone should be your default device. Next try uninstalling the audio driver and letting Windows reinstall the driver. Use the Device Manager (under Devices and Printers in the Hardware and Sound Control Panel). Expand the section labeled Sound, video and game controllers. Then right click on the Audio driver. Click on Uninstall then reboot the computer after the driver is removed. The correct driver should be reinstalled. (I believe that you do not have a separate driver for the microphone under Windows but you should make certain of that.) Check for driver updates as well. The Windows Update may list these as Optional updates. If you have a USB microphone, try a different port. Also check for drivers from the manufacturer. If you have an Apple or Unix OS, check for similar issues with the connection or drivers. I hope this helps. Cindy Wells (who had a similar problem with Audacity recording on the line in port last month; I fixed the problem by uninstalling the audio driver and then reinstalling it. Then changing the Recording Source to Line In finished the fix. The driver got changed by a computer tune-up utility (registry cleaner).)

Most desktops do not have a built in microphone, with exceptions of the ones that come built into the monitor. You find that most sound cards have an input jack to connect a microphone. To be sure if your computer does or does not, the make and model of your computer would be needed to check the computer specifications.
Hello,
I recently installed a wireless
Hmmm.. sounds like assignments got crossed/reassigned possibly when the router was installed.
Have you looked down the list of System Hardware (control panel) to see if you have any Exclamation Marks that indicate a problem to look at?
Have you looked at the settings on the speakers in the computer? i.e. mute, equalizers, volume sliders, and even some audio software differentiates between the different connections on the back and front of your computer. Try clicking or right-clicking on the little speaker in your system tray (the icons at the end of the Start bar).. you may even have an icon in there for an audio program that you want to check out.
You can try a previous restore point, but pay special note of anything you've installed or changed since that time.
Just installing software for the router shouldn't necessitate opening up the computer, although an old tactic would be to pull the sound card out and reseat it back into the slot. Since you don't want to do that, I don't think you're missing anything unless you bumped it by accident when you were attaching the cable to the router. Since it was "immediate" I would be focused on software issues as you indicate.
You might even check out the support for the Labtec website rather than the MS route you've taken already.
Good luck!!

There's no audio coming out on my computer. Do I
lets just go stepwise
1. check to see if the Audio drivers are installed in the device manager if not then you might have to install them
2. check to see if the Volume button on the task bar beside the time is not showing mute symbol and the volume is raised
3. if no then double click on the speaker symbol and in the properties check to see that none of the other tabs are on the mute or at very low volume
4. now check to see that the speaker jack is connected to the right colour coded jack on the PC and the volume is appropriately high
No sound
chech first if your speaker in connected to your computer, then check also your computer if your computer driver is intalled, How to check your computer, you just right click the My Computer in your screen, chose porperties, after that click hardware, click device manager, just look if there is big question mark color yellow, if you can see this, it means your motherboard drivers is not installed, that why your speaker in not functioning,
