Since Media Player is working, you are in pretty good shape....
Double click the speaker icon on the bottom right and you should get your Creative Mixer. If it does not pop up, find it in the control panel and open it.
If any MUTE boxes are checked, uncheck them. Adjust the volume sliders up for each device you want to be able to hear (example: CD player) and you will be good to go!
Unless you are actually using the microphone input, it is good practice to leave it muted.

HI i got the problem, probably with my sound card
I did some research for this driver most of the drivers these days require a paid software tool that does the upgrade for you making it more difficult to find the drivers you need. If you click here you can get the driver you need free scroll down a bit and look for the .exe file.
Click Here to get the driver file. Save this file for future use. I hope this assisted you. John
I've a creative sound blaster
Does the distortion go away after that second. If so it may be the settings set them all to default. Also check the speaker adapter make sure this is plugged in tight and not near any cell phones or cordless items or receivers that my be causing a slight interference.
If it clears up and works do not worry about it. Could be the ground or simple connection. Sounds like a interference to me if it only does it for a second. Have to guess on this one just like you are doing. If it works do not fix it. Great question its a thinker that is for sure. John
