Wont hook up

I don't think it's your server; it sounds like you need to change your network settings so you get your IP address from a DHCP server; it sounds like you have a static address and possibly your computer's IP address is the same as the server.

We keep getting dropped for known reason .

Your internet modem needs to be reset to find the router first. The modem will find the first address when rebooting the entire system or if something gets unplugged..
I've had great success doing the following:
First of all turn off ALL computers, routers, modem ...everything... Then connect power to the main routing source... usually you've got your modem plugged into this.. Just start the router first with all ethernet cabling etc disconnected. Then secondly, connect power to the modem... As the modem connects, it will find the router ip address first... then you are set to turn on the wireless, and the other computers... and the router should designate proper ip addresses for all the peripherals and keep them connected without dropping someone off to allow the other address on... Hope this is clear.... So first the main router, then the modem followed by everything else... Let me know what happens ... and if you need more help...

Will my DSL 300G Modem work

it will work if the subscription would also be an adsl line. but you need to know the new providers settings including type of connection (pppoe, dhcp, etc) and the vci settings. once you place the settings correctly, it will work.

The internet connection keeps disappearing.

Change the router's IP address to (192.168.10.1) maybe you have an IP conflict between the modem and router.

Slow downloading

the porblem seems to be at your ISP.
you need to check with your ISP and verify wha is your upload and downlaod speed. most of the time you should have 5Mb upload and 10Mb download as min.
the speed you are seeing is more like a dialup 133Kb.

No access to set up modem or router

you might have configured your lan settings wrongly.

If your modem was setup for DHCP then you configure your lan to receive IP address automatically, DNS automatically.

If DHCP is disabled on the modem, you have to USE static IP Address for your lan ip and default gateway should be your modem default ip.

the default IP for modem is usually 192.168.1.1
if DHCP is disabled on the modem the sys ip is 192.168.1.3

So Configure your LAN setting as follow and Type http://192.168.1.1 in the address url.

Lan Settings:
IP Address: 192.168.1.3
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1

click ok.
and type the above url, press enter the modem will ask you for username and password.

Good Luck.

Why wireless not working with my smart phone but the laptop via wire?

Probably because your home network (by which I mean your modem/router) is not wireless (WiFi). That's also why you have to "wire" your laptop to your network with an Ethernet cable, instead of using it wirelessly.
