Dell Axim X3 Pocket PC - Page 2 Questions & Answers
Lost data
If you had made a backup of your device then you can recover the list along with everything else you had stored in the backup. If you had been previously synced, MS Outlook will contain your contact list and all information as such will be restored onto your device. If you had added contacts after the last sync........ They will have to manually be reentered.
Software
If you are using Windows XP, you can download Acivesync 4.5 from Microsoft's website, and by this software you can connect your PDA to your laptop (You'll need Windows Mobile Device Center if you're using Windows Vista).
Note: Most probably you won't need the PDA's CD, when XP detects the USB device, if it asks for, point it to C:\Program Files\Microsoft ActiveSync\Drivers and it should install perfectly. But normally Both XP and Vista can recognize Dell Axim PDAs.
Dell Axim x3
The only place you can get this watch type battery with terminals attached is from the UK. Go to CPC.farnell.com The battery you need is made by Varta, the part number is 55902201012.
You can E-Mail (
[email protected] ) or (
[email protected] ) They can give you a price. You will have to set up an account before you can order it. Then you have to E-transfer the money and they will ship it. It's about $9.00 each. + shipping. I didn't by one. decided not to fix my pda even though that's all that's wrong with it.
Wireless connection
Check to make sure that the wireless key is set to WEP and not WPA. If it is a WPA, then you won't be able to, as the Dell Axim's don't have enough security certificates to access WPA networks.

Have you tryed, a reset and a hard reset?
Try contacting dell.
If dell is no use, try asking from a local pc repair shop.
Its possible that the device has got a hardware issue and the mainboard might need to be replaced possibly high price. around the price of a new one I guess.
Axim after a hard reset!
Well to make a long story short, after the hard reset I lost all data, and I put the axim in the cradle and it sync-ed but I had to create a new name for it, and it never brough the software that I had originally installed on the unit back... is that common and everytime we'll do a hard reset on it, will we have to re-install all the software and assing a new name to the unit, if so than it is ridiculous!!!
