Unfortunately, according to Dell's website, it looks like the A920 InkJet Printer is not compatible with Windows 7.

You could download earlier drivers for that printer from this page though (for Windows 2000, Windows XP and Vista).

If you do several test pages it should eventually clear up. If you get new Dell cartridges this will likely go away immediately. Dell carts have a tendency to "sludge up" if the printer remains idle too long, so print something every other day. Also, don't use refilled Dell carts, they may be good at first, but they are old and usually never last long as they should.

Either through the control panel on the printer or through the software that came with the printer, there will be an option for cleaning the head.

An "OCR" , or "Optical Character Recognition" program needs to be installed on a computer to which the printer is connected. These programs convert scanned text into editable documents. I'm confused about you meant about OCR being installled on a CD.

The reason is that it takes the default printer other than your printer.

To make your printer as the default printer follow the steps:

1) Click on Start
2) Click on Control Panel
3) Click on Printers & Faxes
4) Over there you would be able see your printer
5) Right click on the printer and click on "Set as Default".

My wife just had the same proiblem today with the same cartridge carriage. Target's has a Lexmark (which makes this Dell) for $49 which is probabpy better than trying to repair. FYI the ink cartridges for the Dell will not fit the Lexmark.

This is a common thing unfortunately, the Drive Circuit for the Stepper motor sounds like it has :Failed" really there is not much that can be done, in an economical way. If you can service things yourself, then perhaps the broken part may be able to be located and repaired, but parts for printer are VERY hard to get, usually we use junked ones to pirate out any good parts.

If there is a "cleaning" feature, run that. If that doesn't solve the problem, take the cartridges out and make sure that the tape was removed.

Assuming all that is done correctly, a couple of other possibilities exist:
1) The ribbon control cable is damaged. With the cartridge out, look at the ribbon control cable with a flashlight. It should be intact. If not, there's a break in the cable and it's unrepairable.
2) You can clean the jets and contacts with alcohol and a swab (prefer the foam swabs because it doesn't leave cotton behind)

· Press Menu.
· Press down until "Configure" appears, then press right.
· Press down until "Maintenance" appears, press right.
· Press down until "Init NVRAM" appears, and press right.
· "Init NVRAM Are you sure?": press "enter" in the center.
· Follow instruction and restart the printer (turn off the printer, and then on).

How to clear NVRAM under Network

Ok, sounds like to me you may need to perform some routine maintenance on your printer. Using the printer software utility, there should be an option foralignment, head and nozzle cleaning. Try this and obviously check that all of your ink stocks are adequate and in good usable form.

Hello. yes it will work as long as you plug it in with your USB cable. And unlike with a PC, no special driver is needed. Regards, Joe

You can order th plug from dell. If dell no longer has it let me know. Next , if they do not have the plug any longer we will need to get a multi-apdapter. All we need to know from dell is the voltage and amps that the adapter is. I will call my dell sources and get that for you. Then we should be able to get the adapter from radio shack.
