Dell A920 won't print envelopes

I have(had) the same problem using the Dell A920 printer on a Dell compunter running XP. After spending a hour trying to find a solution on the internet, I finally found a solution on my own. When ready to print a envelope. Go to File/Print Click Properties button In lower right hand corner, check "Print Color Image in Black and White" box Click OK button Click OK in print pop up When finished, repeat to uncheck "Print Color Image in Black and White" box to allow for color printing.

Have you tried running cleaning the nozzles using the software? Here is a link on how to do it:

just checking that you also removed any "tape" that might have been on the ink cartridges prior to installing them?

Its an A920 all in

Yes, it's a hardware problem - the onboard processor can't process the data streams no matter its sources : pc/USB or scanner. .
No, it's not a reset problem, and no, a software patch can't fix a hardware defect.
Yes, you need a new printer, this one is dead.

I recently had problems with xp home edition...It

Indeed, there are no windows 7 drivers for your printer. There is one possibility for your printer to work the previous version drivers. So go at this official link and download the windows xp and windows vista 32-bit. In case your new computer is 64-bit, download the windows vista 64-bit drivers. Try to install any of these drivers. In case of reporting an error at the installation try another one. In case of all failed, do this. Select one of the drivers (e.g. for windows xp), right click on it and choose to run in compatibility mode for windows xp, click apply , ok. Retry the installation now with driver. In case of fail again, try with another driver (vista), set compatibility mode for vista and try the installation again. If all these (9 in total) combinations failed, sorry to said, but you have to buy a new printer; at least we did our best.

In case of a problem or clarification, don't hesitate to post me a reply before rejecting my answer.
If you are satisfied, accept my solution.

I can't get my printer

Hi current this printer is not compatible with windows 7 so you wont get any official driver which would make it work on windows 7

However there are some alternative that you can try to solve the problem before buying a new compatible printer

Download driver for windows vista from the following dell website

http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?os=WLH&catid=-1&dateid=-1&impid=-1&osl=EN&typeid=-1&formatid=-1&servicetag=&SystemID=PRN_ALL_A920&hidos=WW1&hidlang=en&TabIndex=&scanSupported=True&scanConsent=False

Save it on to your desktop and then right click on it (do not double click to run or execute it)

Click on properties...then click the tab for Compatiblity and then check the box Run thu=is program in compatiblity mode for..select the drop down for windows vista

Then execute the program...if you are able to install and run it without an error it will solve the problem...else only option is to buy a new printer

Where do tou install ink

From the Manual:

1 Make sure the printer is on.
2 Lift the printer (scanner unit) until the scanner support keeps it open. The ink cartridge carrier moves and stops at the loading position unless the printer is busy.
3 Squeeze the tabs on the cartridge lids, and then lift the lids.
4 Remove the old cartridges. Store them in an air-tight container or dispose of them.
5 If you are installing new cartridges, remove the stickers and tape from the bottom of the cartridges.

NOTICE: Do not touch the gold contact area on the cartridges.
6 Insert the new cartridges. Make sure the color ink cartridge is secure in the left carrier
and the black cartridge is secure in the right carrier, and then snap the lids closed.
7 Lift the printer (scanner unit) and push the scanner support back while lowering the printer (scanner unit) until it is closed.

I have a dell A920

More than likely you have a problem with your printhead not your cartridge but no genuine cartridges cause the most problems. It either dries out, clogs up or a piece of jammed paper gets stuck on the printhead.
Try a few print head deep cleanings if that does not help then you could try soaking the print head in a shallow plate of hot distilled water. Soak the tip of the print head only in no more than 1/8th to 1/4 inch of water.
Clean nozzles.
try another black ink if it is work in it. if no available ink then, try to soak the ink pin onto the lukewarm water for 30 seconds and wipe it out until dry and then insert it back to the ink holder.
Otherwise the printhead requires replacement

Check if you have enough ink. Where does the printer head move to when you open the compartment(that if it has a head indicator).

How do you clean print heads on a Dell A920

You can use a soft, preferably lint-free, cloth with alcohol, just let it dry thoroughly. Don't try to clean the ink-nozzles, since they damage easily (although sometimes it works as a last resort). You turn it on, lift the scanner lid and bed, and the cartridges will settle to the middle. Unclip them, take the cartridge out, and you will see the copper dotted heads. Good luck, and hope this helps.

PC says can't comunicate power button keeps

Try reseating the power connectors, ink cartridges and USB cables and see if that changes anything; if no help, that would mean a failure or damaged internal parts, the only solution for that is contacting your supplier.
