Dell A960 All-In-One InkJet Printer
Error 0502 and 0504
Hi there
On the multi function machine seems to be a coating on the metal rod that the cartridges travel on. Just wipe this rod with a Kleenex and the problem seems to go away.
Somehow it presents a drag on the cartridges and causes an error.
Myself I would put a little bit of oil after on a cloth and wipe along the bar.
Please all I ask is call back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one, so I will keep on helping.

What is a Hardware Error 0502?
There is a shiny steel bar inside the printer, and the ink cartridges move up and down this bar to print on the page. If this bar gets gunked up from stray ink or paper dust, then the motor strains to move the print heads back and forth, and you get this error.
Fixing it is simple. Take some kleenex, and with power unplugged,
clean the bar very well. Then Spray some WD-40 on a Kleenex, and
lubricate the bar by wiping the WD-40 kleenex on the bar.
If this helps, be sure to hit the "thumbs-up" for me!

Will not print in color
You find the printhead cleaning facility in the services tab of your print menu box. However I assure you, more often than not this is not enough to get the desired results. If you want best results folow the procedure below, tis simple and effective only a bit technical.
Ink may be new or full, but their nuzzles may be blocked; depending on manner of storage. To be sure apply a folded tissue paper to the ink nuzzle and press firmly. If the tissue comes off well blotted with ink it means you still have a good amount of ink in it and the nuzzle is not blocked. If not blotted or scantily blotted, it means ink is really low or nuzzle is blocked. To be very sure of this, place nuzzle in a plate/saucer with a bit water so that the nuzzle is soaked. Leave for about 10 minutes. Then apply the tissue again. If still not well blotted it means ink is really low or empty. If new you should return it for a replacement. In the case of blocked nuzzles however, the procedure may be repeated over to get results.

New color installed, printer says color cartridge
Make sure to follow manual instructions carefully and remove any tapes or other packaging materials from the cartridge. Try removing and replacing the cartridge. Make sure to install the color cartridge in the proper slot. Use the "Help" feature in your printer software for more details.

Each time I attempt to
first make sure your printer is show online status when you start printer.
Make sure your printer and computer are in network with wireless.
Uninstall printer driver then check.
Right click on my computer icon then click on proeperty then click on hardware ->device manager
Then you can see all driver list.
Uninstall printer driver from there.
Then reinstall again.
If you have vista os then you need to install update patch from p[rinter's sites .

When using Dell 946 last
HI,
That solution is to fix the 99% issue. But if you don't see the file then don't make changes to any other file in there.Look for it in the task manager by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del
A window will open up in that click on processes tab and then look for DLBCPSWX.EXE,click on it and then click on End Process at the bottom.Try printing now and your printer should print normally.
If you still don't see it then I recommend you reinstall your printer drivers.Make sure you first uninstall the old software/drivers for your printer and then install the new one's from the below link.Click on the below link and then make sure you choose the right operating system which you have on your pc and then you will get a list software/drivers for your printer, download and install them all.
http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?os=WW1&catid=-1&dateid=-1&impid=-1&osl=EN&typeid=-1&formatid=-1&servicetag=&SystemID=PRN_ALL_A946&hidos=WLH&hidlang=en&TabIndex=&scanSupported=False&scanConsent=FalseAfter that your printer will work just fine. And if you still face then same issue then look for the DLBCPSWX.EXE again. You should see it this time and if it is still not there then check in the task manager and if all fails then you will have to contact the support team of your printer.
Thank You for using fixya.
