My scanner wont scan
Hi,
By reading your text, I think it might be the changes in software and driver interface. When you press scan , it shown options such as microsoft word , Email and other , so that you can choose directly to scan in such program.
At least, that what I think , So scroll down the program list and look for some image program to scan.
Another way to test your scanner to see whether it is working with window or not is to test it in native Window scanning program. Go to Start up, all programs , accessories and choose camera and scanner wizard.
And then, follow the step by step instruction written in the program.
Please post your feedback and Vote if the problem resolved as per your satisfaction.

I have had my printer
If it is the same ink in for 2 years, the ink will have dried on the printheads. Its probably also siezed up. You may need to purchase a new printer, or get this one serviced. It will be cheaper to buy a new multifunction device (printer/copier/scanner) these start at about £30

Hi there maximum time we found it is a the head problem. The print head is what the cartridges sit in inside of the printer. For resolve the problem please follow these.
Open the printer and wait for the carriage to slide over. Some how if its not come then Unplug the printer & Manually slide the carriage.
Now Remove the ink cartridges from the print head & Use wet warm cotton swab or use alcohol to thoroughly clean the print head.
Repeat this until there is no ink residue coming off on the cotton swab. After finished it make the head dry then fix it back. Now Try to print something now
If that does not work then follow the next step.

Printer wont power up, could it be the power
If the output voltage is cheked it can be confirmed. It is possible tto repair the unit if it has failed. so opne it up and check if the fault is minor like the failrue of fuse in themains or in the secondary section . If so replace and test on printer to ensure it is not blowing out again. If so there is a powerr short onthe main printer board.
However If the adapter is not working evenif fuse is intact, it must be checked with a multimeter to confirm the fault .

MY PRINTER WILL NOT TURN ON OR OFF. NOT ABLE TO
It is possible that the printer has a short in the main board. SO first of all remove the adapter and see it this heats up without connecting to the printer, check the voltage of the adapter.
If Ok then open printer and check the input power line .Use a multimeter to check for short, if not been able to check a short connect adapter and see if any component is heating.if so the component /IC is confimed to be short.
Only if the printer powers up do we need to install software, connecct printer to be detected to complete installation.
Confirm/credit me if you get this right.

Print problems with A940 dell printer
The print-head pulls ink from the ink-cartridge, and sprays it onto the paper, unless the print-head has become "clogged".
Run a "print-head-cleaning" cycle, to try to unclog it.

Sounds like your inks are empty, or if you have not used the printer in a while, you need to do a few head cleans

How does the fax work in this machine?
Hello and Welcome to FixYa!
It will be difficult to describe the process in words only, so I've provided a support link below, got pictorial representations also, which will guide briefly on setting the fax capabilities on your Printer. I've also provided the download link for the User Manual as that will have a more detailed description. Even though if you aren't able to set it up you can ask me, or can also contact Dell support directly
here.
I hope you will definitely come up with some solution.
If you think I was of help, your token of appreciation in the form of rating will be esteemed.
Concerned, Nooh
