It seems like graphics resoluation setting is changed and is beyond the range your monitor can support, what colour is the power light of monitor? as there is no model of the monitor, I can recommend to connect a bit newer version of monitor and see if the screen is on, if not then it will be graphics card settings.

Powers off for no apparent reason

Hey there,This problem is usually caused by a bad capacitor on the motherboard. These eventually lead to dead machines. You can check yourself by looking inside at the motherboard and try to spot the tiny little cylinders attached to it. If one or more are bulging at the top then this your problem and time to look for a new machine. The other possibility is the same problem in your power supply which is harder to spot. It is however usually preceded by your machine being louder and noisier than usual. For this problem you should be able to get another power supply, but be warned the power supply failure is often accompanied by a motherboard issue as well, so look it closely before investing any money in replacement parts.

Re-wiring a DELL dhm

The wires will only connect in the right places. If you haven't been inside before the problem started, then there is nothing to worry about in that respect, cables don't just unplug themselves. There is a very good chance that the power supply itself has failed. They aren't expensive and are easy to fit. Just take a photo of the inside before you remove the old one, it will make it easier to refit the new one.

I had to restore my Dimension 2400 by formatting

Check your antivirus and firewall settings. You will have to open up your network connections Click start control panel network connections this may vary depending on your operating system look for local area connection if you see a red x or a yellow exclamation or question mark ! ? you will need to update or install the driver or it could be firewalled. Make sure your antivirus program is not blocking the internet connection. If you are trying to connect through a modem/router you it should have come with a disk then you might have to connect the usb lead to your modem to get a connection then Click start control panel administration tools computer management device manager scroll to network adapters should see a yellow question ? exclamation mark ! or a red X right click install drivers. The driver might be on the disc supplied by your ISP internet service provider or the motherboard disc You only need to check the BIOS if you cant install the driver Make sure you Ethernet/internet is enabled in bios restart your computer during the boot up process you will see on your screen a certain key to press to enter set up (BIOS) press and hold that key to enter bios using arrow keys navigate to integrated peripherals look for SiS On Chip Pci Device press enter scroll to SiS 10/100m press enter make sure its "Enabled"

About a month ago I lost all my pictures,

You can often successfully recover deleted files from a PC, it all depends on what has happened since the files were deleted. When you delete files the data itself isn't deleted, just the index entry that tells the system where the data for those files is located. The area containing the deleted data is also now marked as free space so it is available for any new files to be written there instead. If and when that happens, then it is too late to recover your deleted files so it is very, very important to not save any new files or data to the device concerned. One of the easiest ways to see if you can recover deleted files is to try some good file recovery software. One I used to use is this data recovery program which you can download from site belowhttp://www.asoftech.com/apr/
