Go on your desktop and right-click on the "My computer" icon and go to its properties
Then go to "Hardware" Tab and then go to "Device Manager"
In the Device manager, notice any yellow question mark or exclamation mark especially on the CD Drive. Right-click on it and choose update driver. The the driver installation wizard will take you through the process. When complete, restart the computer and try if its working. Do the same on the USB component in the device manager. This should solve you out of that, It means the CD Rom drivers as well as the USB are corrupt or missing...

If this does not work then consider using any software that scans your computer and reveals to you the drivers missing on it.

If this does not work, i think you just have to re-install your Operating system

I replaced motherboard and cpu

Welcome to Fixya

Try to use 1 stick if memory module if you are using 2 sticks. This is a common problem with new motherboards, dual channel mode is not activated. Once you access the Bios just reset the motherboard and that should do it. If you still get the same thing, try to use external video card and see if you are getting issue with video card.

Let me know is you need further assistance.

Thank you for using Fixya! If you need further help, reach me via phone at https://www.6ya.com/expert/elixirjose_00375ea24bd8141b

Hi,

The device drivers for your model computer/laptop can be downloaded from the Dell WEB support site.
To download the drivers from Dell WEB site, select your model desktop or laptop, or a better option, type in the Service Tag number, this is printed on the label on the bottom of the laptop and on the back or sides of a desktop. (If the Service Tag label is missing then go the BIOS setting and on one of the BIOS pages, the Service Tag number will be displayed). The Service Tag will open the page where the drivers specific for your model computer/laptop are located. My system have sound problem why anything is not

Firstly check the volume is not low or muted on both windows and the speakers. In windows click the speaker icon in the bottom right of your screen, check the volume is turned up. Then click mixer or advanced and check that all volumes are turned up.
If using a laptop, check that the hotkey control for volume is on. You will see an audio icon on one of your ‘F’ keys, hold the Fn button located near the ctrl and press the volume function key.
Next open Device Manager from Control Panel and check there are no yellow exclamation marks on any drivers. If there are then you need a new driver.
If you are still having issues the sound card may be faulty, this is usually integrated into the motherboard. In a desktop PC you could buy a new PCI soundcard if you have a spare PCI slot in your machine.
You need to goto the manufacturers website, find their support section and there should be a list of drivers for your specific machine. Installing these should resolve your problem. I have a list of links to most manufacturers drivers on my website.
Hope this helps,

Trying to connect a SCSI zip drive to a Dell OptiPlex GX1 400MHz and want to install a new Segate Barr 40Gig thers only 1 bay

In order to use the SCSI zip drive, you'll need a Windows 98 driver for that drive. Go to the manufacturer's website to download the driver; if there isn't a Windows 98 driver available, that device may not be compatible with Windows 98.

Dell Optiplex GX1 not recognizing all hard drives.

Hello,
If you connect the drives using one single ribbon cable with two connectors on it then you need to set the drives to Master/Slave using the jumpers on the drives. Master being your OS drive.
If you are running a very old Operating System, make sure it can support a 20GB drive.
